It’s perfectly accessible for beginners with a sturdy 5 pin hot swap PCB, allowing folks to try out new switches without needing soldering hardware. The GLORIOUS caters to a more gaming-oriented crowd and has significantly better latency, while the Keychron is better designed as a hobbyist or typist keyboard, so it has a more premium build quality and includes a small toolkit to help you customize the keyboard. Although the GLORIOUS Fox switches have a fairly high pre-travel distance compared with other linear switches, they don't take much force to actuate, so they still feel responsive. In these past two years, standards have risen considerably not only in the higher tiers of custom built boards, but also when it comes to (budget) prebuilt gaming keyboards.
You can save three profiles onto its onboard memory, and you can have up to three layers of programming and lighting settings per profile. Additional legends have been printed on the front faces, denoting extra functionality on those keys. I want to add a quick disclaimer: I am not comparing this keyboard to a custom-built board that costs hundreds of dollars in parts and labor.
I’m not saying that Core should be extremely in-depth or offer endless amounts of precise macro building options or anything like that, but the whole thing is just one or two steps removed from being ‘finished’ if you ask me.
Also, the media keys are only accessible through hotkeys rather than being dedicated, which may be annoying if you want to quickly pause or rewind content. The GMMK PRO comes in a 75% form factor and has a programmable knob in the top right corner whereas the GMMK 2 comes in a 96% full-size or a 65% compact size. The Fox switches sound and feel good straight out of the box (but do get better after while), the lubed stabilizers do their jobs nicely, and the included plate and case foam result in a very pleasing sound and feel when using the board.
