About this deal

The HP-800 is a newer design, in an era when detachable cables are becoming more and more a design staple, so it's hard to knock the HD 280 Pro too hard for not having one. I've used mine for many many years, so long I need to start looking to replace them (since new earpads and headband(? However, put on some Bill Evans Trio, close your eyes, and you'll be surprised how convincing the experience of sitting in some smoke-filled jazz club in New York is! Never felt such pleasure from listening to the music, even on decent stereo speakers and much more expensive headphones than the listed above. Sure, if you don't take them off for hours at a time, you can expect some sweaty ear cups, perhaps, or some minor discomfort along the headband.

The Audio-Technica are more comfortable, which makes them better-suited for long critical listening sessions, but they can sound quite boomy and even piercing at times. The headband and ear cups are made out of dense plastic and can handle a fair amount of physical stress. This feature adds to their overall functionality and portability, allowing for easy storage and a comfortable fit in various situations. I just got super bored with them but we should also keep in mind I had them in 2015 or thereabouts when I was still kind of a bass head. The right joint on my pair occasionally emits a creak, and I found a small scratch on one side of the headband that seemed like it happened during manufacturing.

They're made of a thick black plastic that engulfs your ears, but for good reason, they really don't let any sound in or out, which is a huge plus for the design. I would have preferred a straight one, as this just hangs in the air between my neck and whatever I am connected to, pulling on my head. The only headphones that came close to the HD 280 PRO in terms of comfort were the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700.Please give us the reason for your assessment in the following text box and – if possible – your e-mail address for further questions. Unfortunately, they have a poor soundstage that won't be ideal for more neutral listeners, but overall their sound quality is good enough for most. While the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro may be the perfect monitor headphones for you, here are some other options to consider as an alternative.
