About this deal

The revolutionary HORL 2 sharpener takes the guesswork out of the most tricky aspect of using a whetstone: getting the sharpening angle right. The HORL 2 comprises of two parts: a magnetic angle support bar and the roller which houses the discs. However, thanks to the constant grinding angle, only a few rolls back and forth are needed for subsequent resharpening.

After the first grinding process, the initially rough surface will become finer and the HORL® Diamond Standard reaches its ideal grinding surface. In an electroplating process around 55 % of the diamonds in the HORL ® Diamond Standard are firmly embedded on a nickel plate. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. With one hand holding down the angle support, roll the coarse sharpening stone along the other side of the blade’s edge. The HORL 2 PRO Knife sharpener is constructed out of premium wood that has been dried in special ovens up to 7-8% humidity to guarantee maximum quality. With high-quality stainless steel and aluminium components as well as the dark bronze powder coating give this premium knife sharpener an elegant look and at the same time a unique feel.

The Horl 2 consists of a barrel shaped, two-sided sharpening device and a magnetic angled knife holder block. German designer Otmar Horl originally conceived of this knife sharpening method in 1993, and his son Timo helped finish and bring the sharpener to the USA from Germany in the last several years. The knife, blade side up, attaches to the angle support bar, which has two options on either side: 20° for standard Western blades and 15° for thinner Japanese blades. Because this system allows you to also sharpen at a 20-degree angle you can also use the HORL 2 to sharpen most pocket knives.Next, remove the knife, flip the magnet around and attach the knife so the other side of the blade is facing out. With the 15° grinding angle, particularly fine blades made of Damascus or high-quality carbon steel can be given filigree sharpness.
