About this deal

The mental health of our characters is further questioned through the character of Sally as we suddenly see the story through her eyes in a stunning midway twist. It's not until we're at least halfway into the book that it's apparent it's most likely the 70s, though maybe 8-track tapes were big in the early 80s. A poignant but also lively and humorous novel, with characters so believable you expect them to rise up off the page. But then I decided to to play with the speed of the book reading (wanting to power through it faster) and found that playing it x1. This book has everything, it is fast paced, it has lots of twists and turns and it thickens with every chapter.

This is one of those books which makes you miss your stop on the train, burn the dinner, forget to put the kids to bed and keeps you reading until way too late into the night. The twists and turns aren’t entirely unexpected, but that doesn’t detract from the power of the story-telling. The use of shifting time frames and two character voices is utilised to full effect by Nuala Ellwood. Kate has been mentally damaged by her previous experiences as a successful war correspondent reporting from war-torn regions in countries like Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, giving the story a strong contemporary feel. With an elegant and deft touch Nuala Ellwood has created a tale that is gripping, engrossing and surprising at every turn. Further mystery surrounding the relationship between herself and her seemingly estranged family hints at more dysfunction and even the physical description of her mother's house immediately creates tension and atmosphere akin to a gothic horror story. We collaborate with authors across all adult fiction genres, and also handle children’s books, young adult and cross-over fiction. The supporting cast includes Harry Potter and Game of Thrones actor David Bradley, who recently voiced Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar winner Pinocchio, and Maggie Steed ( Ten Percent). While packing up her mother's belongings she comes to believe there is something strange and terrifying happening in the house next door.

I checked it out because it said it was about a high school girl whose older sister develops anorexia when she goes to college. And then, when you finish the last sentence it makes you wake up your husband and say, "Oh my word, that was amazing," because you just have to tell someone how incredible it is!The Rafter sisters also have a shared history of tragedy and domestic violence while growing up, as well as very different views on what happened in their troubled childhood home. My Sister's Bones is a dark and disturbing novel set in the present day chaotic, violent Hell-hole of war torn Aleppo, and the scenic predictable, mundane coastline of Britain's Herne Bay in Kent. Billie can’t talk to her parents about it; they act as if nothing is wrong, refusing to see the changes in their older daughter. Frankly it should be the Editor doing this intro but he got distracted by the fine ales served at the pub round the corner.

The story of a veteran Iraq and Syrian war reporter suffering from PTSD heading home to Kent after a long stint in Aleppo after the passing of her mother was an introspective thriller, informed in part by Ellwood's own experience growing up in a family of war reporters who carried as many scars as the fighters they covered. And so goes this tale of two sisters, one who became a war correspondent suffering from post-traumatic stress, and the other an alcoholic - both abused as children. Kate and Sally’s lives are not easy ones to stomach, from child abuse, alcoholism, teen pregnancy and Kate’s harrowing war experiences.

Just back at her late mother’s home after a stint in Aleppo, Kate’s eyes meet “a sight so horrifying it makes my toes curl: my reflection in the full-length mirror. Read all Kate Rafter is back to home after a horrific incident in war-torn Iraq and the death of her mother.
