About this deal

Now, for this twenty-fifth anniversary edition, the text has been revised, brought up to date and the deck completely reillustrated by internationally renowned artist, Giovanni Caselli.

For anybody who ever had an interest in this deck but could either not find it or afford it this is a brief window of opportunity to aquire it.The way I see it, this seems to symbolize the fact that growth on all levels is essentially linked to her, and to Nature Herself. I’ve always found the deck quite frustrating but now I see it’s due to my lack of knowledge of certain elements in Greek mythology!

This is the world of the Mythic Tarot: dramatic, fantastical, and seemingly far removed from our own modern lives. However, in the book, Justice is referred as the card that follows the Chariot, and Strength as the card following the Wheel of Fortune. Her na-ve, detailed and decorative style is the perfect medium to convey the symbolism of the tarot with great impact and clarity. Her fascination with the tarot began in the early 1970s, but it wasn’t until 1976, when she did a course at the Franklin School in London, that she decided to focus more intently on her passion for the tarot, as well as her interest in psychology and astrology. When I first started using tarot, I found the Rider Waite deck did not resonate with me as easily as the Mythic deck. Not only does the book relate the stories connected with the characters on the cards, but it also talks about what the whole image means on both an inner level, and on a divinatory level. For each card, the accompanying book describes the myth that is illustrated on a card, an interpretation on an inner level, and a short divinatory interpretation. However, the cloth with the Celtic Cross spread printed on it is something I would not use during professional readings - that would make me some kind of a rank amateur!

With all kinds of stories from Greek Mythology converging in both the Major and Minor cards, it makes sense that this is the deck to have if you are a big fan of Greek Myth. Not only that, I benefit from having the accompanying virtual book meanings which I didn't have with the original deck. These 4 or 5-star reviews represent the opinions of the individuals who posted them and do not reflect the views of Etsy. You can learn a little about Greek mythology at the same time if you were to choose to read from cover to cover.

I have used this deck almost daily since I bought it a couple of weeks ago, and have done a few spreads on the same issue. After reading a bit of the Companion book I remembered that I had bought this deck years back and didn't use it and must have gotten rid of it somewhere down the line. She leaves behind a stack of 8 cups behind her to symbolise the tasks she has already completed for the Goddess… with some trepidation. The expertly written 256-page illustrated book guides the reader through the myths, the imagery and symbolism of each tarot card, and the meaning of the card at both the inner level and the divinatory level. The New Mythic Tarot brings together all the elements that made the original version such a necessary deck for all tarot enthusiasts—a deck that depicts the gods and goddesses, heroes and heroines of the Greek myths and a book that helps the reader explore them as familiar archetypal characters, whose experiences mirror the shifts and patterns of daily life.
