About this deal

The decision of what to do to Oswald is presented as simple and binary, in a way that bugged me throughout the book. As an experiment, Jake travels back to 1958 to save Harry's family, who will be killed by his father on Halloween night. In addition to the regular trade edition, Scribner produced a signed limited edition of 1,000 copies, 850 of which were made available for sale beginning on November 8, 2011 ( ISBN 978-1-4516-6385-3). is pure King, from that familiar Down East accent, to the cast of characters that will become your friends during the course of the novel’s 700 pages, to that slightly off-kilter world that always leaves this Constant Reader slightly uneasy. Just the imagination of King going more toward sci-fi elements makes me lose even more of my already shattered mind.

In 2011, Jake Epping, an English teacher from Lisbon Falls, Maine, sets out on an insane — and insanely possible — mission to prevent the Kennedy assassination. Marina is depicted as being a victim of her husband's physical and verbal abuse, as well as the abuse of Oswald's domineering mother, Marguerite. When we did our trial runs, it threw everything it could at us from car trouble to illness, and the bigger the event, the harder it tries to stop you.

But even there King manages to include some unexpected beauty - just remember Richie and Bevvy dancing. Either way I hope you enjoy – just know you cannot go back and change the fact that you took the time to read it . Reading a King novel is often like sitting on a park bench with an old-timer, listening as he spins his tales and spreads his gossip, and 11. How about the late ‘50s red and white Plymouth Fury in the parking lot of the mill, the first car Jake sees when he steps back in time?

Oh, well, I guess we did think that saving JFK would make things much better, but we don’t think there’s a big conspiracy. And the reverse applies to the idyllic town of Jodie in which Jake is finally able to feel that he actually LIVES in the past. After his father left them when Stephen was two, he and his older brother, David, were raised by his mother. Also, while I enjoyed the rabbit hole and reset the timeline rules, I thought the idea that you could bring objects back but they’d still exist in the reset past as a cheat and the kind of internal inconsistency that King allows in his work whenever it’s convenient to the story. But, in the end I loved the whole package – quick places, slow places, exposition, character development, backstory, etc. I'd like to thank Stephen King personally for perpetuating stereotypes that just need to freaking die already. We also come to see quite early on that the real city of Dallas and the fictional Derry are almost one and the same, with the same underlying malice defining them both.

After witnessing and listening to Oswald and de Mohrenschildt's interactions, Jake plans to stalk Lee on the date of the attempted assassination to see if de Mohrenschildt was present, but Clayton finds Sadie and holds her hostage. When first reading his newer works, I didn´t really care that much about possible political agendas ( I do agree with) he implements in his works. The series premiered on Presidents' Day, February 15, 2016, and was met with mostly positive reviews. Time passes as normal in 1958 but, regardless of the duration, the traveller will only be gone from 2011 for two minutes.

After reading Harry's essay about Frank killing his wife (Harry's mother), two of Harry's brothers and hurting Harry badly while leaving his sister in a coma, Jake sets out to murder Frank to prevent him from causing the killing to happen.
