It's all just so odd, and I'm not sure I can really explain why the story bothered me the way it did but it was just so abruptly tragic in places, then funny and giddy the next. The Babar series is a book collection by Jean de Brunhoff who wrote and illustrated seven Babar books; the series was continued by his son, Laurent de Brunhoff after he passed away. One of the most iconic series of animal books in history, Babar has become a household name both as a character in children’s books and on TV.
