About this deal

Unlike other stands, it also comes with a magnetised tool tray which is incredibly useful, giving you somewhere to leave your tools and all the screws and nuts while your working on your bike that would otherwise roll under the table! It's even compatible with a range of accessories to make wrenching easier and comes with a small 2843A Work Tray. The thing about clamping frame tubes in general is that when you use a rag, they want to slip all over the place, which is annoying, and when you don't use a rag there's always a level to it where you only hope you have it clamped such that it won't slip and scuff the paint, since it only takes once. It's one of the lightest weight stands in our test selection and also collapses down the smallest for storage and travel.

When the pads are soft and clean and hold the bike nicely from being able to rotate, it's generally better on the paint to not use the rag.Any of the work stands we've tested will undoubtedly serve you better than no stand at all, but some are clearly more impressive than others. Another great way is to simply attach a good bicycle carry rack for a car to a wall, not as convenient to use, but works very well. Not all portable repair stands are created equal though, and some are certainly easier to stow away than others. Benson has lived in the Lake Tahoe area for the past 19 years and is a year-round mountain athlete, backcountry skiing in the winter and mountain biking in the warmer months. As a rule of thumb two-legged work stands offer a little more stability under load, more room for pedal movement and usually a smaller footprint.

This bike stand provides unparalleled adjustability ideal for those who need that extra versatility. It doesn't involve any clamping on frame tubes, and enables the mechanic to easily spin the bike so they can reach all areas and sides of the bike without having to move themselves. However, if you don’t need portability and you’ve got an appropriate space, don’t dismiss a workbench or wall mounted bike clamp. Many workstands are easily foldable and put away, and provide most home mechanics with the ideal solution of a stable platform to work on their bikes and the convenience of storing the stand. There's no denying the satisfaction of owning a permanent mounted stand that is more solid than the bike it's holding, but a permanent repair stand is really only for committed home mechanics. I'm even using one on my Motoped, but with tie downs instead of the supplied hooks due to the weight of the engine. It prevents damage to the frame or components and offers convenience for maintenance, parking, or quick access without leaning the bike against surfaces.
