About this deal

On 14 April 1912, less than a week into a transatlantic trip from Southampton to New York, the largest luxury cruise liner in the world struck an iceberg off the coast of Labrador, causing the hull to buckle.

People then and since were fascinated with the technical achievement of the Titanic but had this achievement and the arrogance that went with it led man to challenge the immutable laws of nature? The book also takes a look at events that occurred once the ship was wrecked, from discovering what dead passengers had tried to take with them to assessing the likelihood of us ever being able to raise the wreck for more study. Overall, I think this is a great book to read when you're looking for a bit of a mystery to keep your mind turning and want to impress your friends with new perspectives on an old story. Complete with histories and accounts from the survivors, the book provides a full understanding of the disaster and the far-reaching effects it had on the survivors. Many people believe that the latter is a fact but fortunately many Titanic historians have proved otherwise. The shipwreck occurs in April and the Titan sinks 400 nautical miles from Newfoundland – both details mirroring Titanic’s imperiled voyage. Set sail and discover what happened when the "unsinkable" ship hit an iceberg with this picture-packed guide to the Titanic disaster. Belfast is the birthplace of Titanic and this heritage hotel is a sister to our award-winning Titanic Hotel Liverpool. Each book offers a unique and insightful perspective on one of the most tragic events in history, and the collection as a whole promises to be a valuable addition to any bookshelf.

In later years many survivors told their stories to the press, and Titanic celebrates these accounts. My book is the story of Jock’s life, his death…and the previously untold scandal of the aftermath of the sinking. Amenities include flat screen TV with entertainment system, luxurious toiletries and free wifi access in each room. This book cites numerous stories of premonitions of survivors, or people who felt a foreboding uneasiness about the trip and didn't embark - even a dog, no less. It was nice to know more about them and learn what they were like and their duties, giving humanity to each face including the captain. To enable personalised advertising (like interest-based ads), we may share your data with our marketing and advertising partners using cookies and other technologies. The Titanic Disaster Omens, Mysteries, and Misfortunes is an interesting read for those who are interested in omens and mysteries associated with the sinking of the Titanic. I am not a believer in psychic energy, but the author does a wonderful job of bringing everything together as the book progresses.

Presents and dissects one of the most tragic events of the 20th Century in a dramatic insight into the Titanic's construction and fit-out, to its maiden voyage. I’ve always had a soft spot for Violet who was one of the last people to see my grandfather, Jock Hume, alive. It wasn’t until 1955 when Walter Lord wrote the definitive account of the sinking, A Night To Remember, that interest in Titanic was reignited across the world.Packed with incredible statistics and facts about Titanic and written in easy-to-grasp text, this history book for children will transport young readers back to the year 1912. Published for the first time over 50 years ago, author Walter Lord weaves a tale of the human element that played a major role during the sinking of the Titanic. All circulation spaces within Titanic Belfast are fully accessible and we have additional aids to assist those visiting with ASD.

I've read the entire thing in just a few days, and to me, this is a perfect example of a book that one might read on a rainy/snowy day when one wants to curl up under a blanket and immerse themselves in a mystery. From being built and setting sail to sinking fast and saving lives, theTitanic is explored and explained in fascinating detail with intricate cutaway scenes and cross-sections. Hawke, its bow ripped open, almost sank, and Olympic limped back to Belfast for repairs, delaying the completion of Titanic in the Harland and Wolff shipyard. A brilliant non fiction read for any fan of the titanic disaster, or any students studying the boat. Lord had sailed on the Titanic’s sister ship Olympic as a child and developed a fascination with the Titanic, collecting old newspaper cuttings and memorabilia.JAMES BANCROFT has produced more than 100 books and articles, the subjects of which reflect his varied interests.
