About this deal

It shouldn't take more than one or two days at room temp but until the finish has fully cured if you heat the surface again with hot plates or waffles you will very likely get a recurrence, since any partially-cured oil in the finish can liquefy when heated and capillary action will tend to bring it to the surface. It can bring out the wood's warm tones, and the amount of darkening depends on the type of oak and the Danish oil used. Oily rags can spontaneously combust, so it’s vital to spread them out flat and let them completely dry (ideally somewhere outside) before throwing them away. If the wood has been painted or waxed, you’ll have to remove that finish before you can oil the surface.

Another thing I do when sanding projects is after the 220 I give the wood a spray with water to swell the grain. Danish Oil can be used on almost any wooden surface, including interior and exterior furniture, doors, window frames, cladding, hardwood floors, skirting boards, gates, children’s play areas, kitchen worktops, turned wood, musical instruments and food preparation areas etc.The natural finish provided with the application of Danish Oil provides water resistance to all bare woods helping reduce staining and making the wood easier to clean and maintain. Top quality Danish Oil is made to be absorbed into wood, protecting, nourishing and ‘feeding’ the wood from the inside. Furniture Clinic Danish Oil is completely safe and highly effective when used on all types of wood, including Oak, Beach and Walnut.

Danish Oil is completely non-toxic and food safe when dry which means in can be used on all oak items and in all environments. Obviously your house will be warmer than your garage and it's often done to take a finished project into the house to complete 'drying' and while it's doing so it shouldn't be used. This guide looks at which finish is the easiest to apply, which provides the best look, and which provides the best protection. Despite the impression that it sinks in, oil sits on top of the wood (except at the end grains) and doesn't sink in particularly. Secondly they said "Once you have sealed any wood with an oil there is nothing you can place over the top. It is easy to apply, has an attractive ‘natural’ low sheen finish and excellent long-term protective properties.

I think it is important to note this work is being done in my garage and the temperature has been around 45-60 degrees Fahrenheit. Always test product on a spare surface or inconspicuous area for colour, compatibility and end result. If you take a close look at our solid wood surfaces, you will see that the wood is composed of fibre-like grains.
