There are certainly some plot holes, especially concerning the ending, and some of them are there because of trying to tweak a story that already had a coherent ending in the manga. Edge of Tomorrow unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world. Rather than rise to his challenges, he frequently stumbles upon a workable solution or, as in Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds, just waits until his nemeses catch a cold. Immediately noticeable is a slight hobbling of those infamous wall-shaking low tones at the film’s start – depths are still plumbed but even on my modest twin subwoofer setup, the tones dropped off a touch quicker than they did on the accompanying blu. Even quieter, more dialogue-driven moments sustain the 3D envelopment with subtle yet audible ambient effects circling all around and moving overhead.

Based on the Japanese sci-fi light novel All You Need Is Kill, the film takes place a dozen or two years in the future. The listening becomes submerged in a rotating web of sound that combines sound effects and musical accompaniment. The overall tone of the soundtrack remains one of superb dynamics, with weight in the lower register perfectly married to crystalline detail in the higher frequencies. Before he dies though, Cage yanks a claymore from a dead trooper and detonates it as a mimic commander swoops in for the kill.Use the thumbs up and thumbs down icons to agree or disagree that the title is similar to Edge of Tomorrow. Its palpable presence is never in question as it contains refined bass quality that is appreciably superior and room energizing.
