About this deal

Redesigned, the Backpacker now features windows in the front quarter panels, allowing you to enjoying the morning sun and cathedral arch poles for extra strength. Sits perfectly on there and the with the weight being fairly low and distributed well, it doesn't interfere with the balance of the bike. They appreciate that it has plenty of room for one person and that its a bargain tent with great features.

I love the double door on the inner, not many manufacturers provide you with a full mesh door panel these days, such a nice touch on hot days when you want to keep the insects out. Made in Bangaladesh from polyester, (inner and fly) with a flysheet HH rating of 3000 and well stitched one really can't grumble.

On the coldest of the two night's, I did experience a lot of condensation on the inside of the inner tent, which dripped quite annoyingly on to myself and my kit in the morning! I didn't manage to take a photo until later in the evening, but here is an example of a complete toggle/loop, followed by a "loopless" toggle. It will serve you well and if you decide to take camping to the next step and upgrade, then it will pass down to someone else who will appreciate it. Even with it's 'low spec' it's never leaked and the low profile means it's okay in windy conditions. Yes it is lightweight although if you are ready to spend much more money You can fund much lighter tents.

fibreglass Dimensions: 310cm (L) x 150cm (W) x 110cm (H) Carry bag dimensions: 58cm x 15cm x 15cm Weight (approx): 2. Good tent to give wild camping a go, it maybe a bit heavy for backpacking but I still do it, camped out along the Pennine way in heavy rain and the tent stood the test and woke up dry, very good tent. The porch area is small but does have a groundsheet, unlike some superlight tents where all your gear has to sit on the wet grass and there's nowhere to take off your shoes. That said, this was a mild July night and I was using the tent solo, so I cannot comment as to the outcome if those variables had been significantly different.

Obviously not the lightest, strongest, and sexiest tent but if you do not want to spend a fortune or you just trying out backpacking it is a good start. I have mainly used this tent by myself with all my cycling touring kit; it provides me with ample room to move around and most importantly, allows me to have a good sleep. This always happens when in a rush and it is starting to get dark, blowing a gale, or tipping it down! If you wanted to use your space a little better, you could ditch the bag, fold the inner and fly, so they fit in the top of your pack, and slip the poles down the back or side of your pack inside.

I would suggest this as a 'starter' tent suitable for low level summer camping, (great for the younger ones). The poles seem ok and up to the job, as all tents I am going to sleep in I always fully guy out when pitching and had no issues in wind and rain. the tent will far from make a dramatic increase to the weight of your kit, leaving you free to concentrate on carrying plenty of other items of equipment. The tent went inside, with USAF sleeping bag, shemagh, hat, mess kit, kettle, headtorch and spare batteries, roll mat strapped to the outside, and a fleece blanket to the top (just in case it got nippy in the night).

If you have used this product please leave a review, or your comments for other visitors, many thanks! Yes, there are tents that are a bit lighter, employ better quality materials and have a few more bells and whistles, and for that reason, I have given this product four stars. The sewn in groundsheet is very sturdy, far more so than my other tents all of which cost a lot more and all of which require an extra groundsheet weighing 300g (ish). foot / 165 pounds) If you are significantly bigger than me I not sure if it would be good for you in size.If you're running a script or application, please register or sign in with your developer credentials here. For many of us our first cycle tours are during the warmer months of the year (the madness of going touring in winter will come! As the guys form part of the structure you can't move it once pitched (not freestanding) so you do want to be sure your in the right direction, head uphill etc, before you dully commit to your location.
