Story three `Renegades' by Gav Thorpe is an okay story about a company of Avenging Sons Space Marines as they fight a loosing battle for the world of Helmabad. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I was going on vacations for 7 days so I brought this so I could read one or two stories per day while reading all other novels at the same time. This is a nice story that introduces the renegade Chaos God Malice (who veteran gamers may recognise as Malal). Honour Amongst Fiends by Dylan Owen never got going; and Fires Of War by Nick Kyme was as utterly boring as anything else he's done. Castellan Reinhart and his warriors arrive on the world, greeted by representatives of the Inquisition and the Sisters of Battle. The second story is `Gauntlet Run' by Chris Roberson which follows a squadron of Imperial Fist Scout Bikers as they race an Evil Sunz force across the desert. Gav Thorpe - Renegades - 3/5 It's avenging sons story - to my knowledge doesn't connect to any previous publish tale.Out of the 8 stories I liked the ones that stood out the best and that made this anthology worthwhile were: Honor Among Fiends, Fires of War, Labyrinth, Headhunted, And They Shall Know No Fear, and, One Hate(details on each in my updates).

Although the adversities where cool I really enjoy the ending since I predicted what was going to happen and then the author throws a curve ball.This was my first warhammer 40k book, and the only real thing it made me think was "Why would anyone even like the space marines? This multipart plastic kit builds a Space Marine Captain and four Company Heroes to accompany him into battle. So a Black Legion's Scaevolla has a grudge against the imperial fists and so he hunts and kills them.
