About this deal

I generally go the other way, just because I like the position of the utensil they are holding better with the hand upside down. The loose LEGO is amazing, contains so many different elements for anyone bulking out their own collection.

The palm is just solid and flat, unlike a real hand, but I don't think that detracts from the articulation at all, because of the range of movement in the fingers and thumb. By purchasing this item you agree to release us from any liability regarding the improper use of this product. In addition, it's neat to see how the joints in a real hand work through a Lego interpretation of one. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.

It seems that having the large side up when they are holding a tool means that tool is 'active', but when the hands are upside down the tool becomes 'passive'. Given that the pinky is shorter, and that the thumb is further away from the pinky, I would think that the "fatter" end makes more sense to be the "top" of the hand (pointing up/forward).

The Robot Hand can pick up the carrier from two different sides – the smooth white side and the studded blue side. It follows the anatomy of the human palm and is able to perfectly replicate the posture of the palm in action. Some LEGO® sets contain small parts that are NOT suitable for and may pose a hazard to children under 3 years of age. With the exception of some parts towards the middle of the hand, the dark red coloring is all pieces like the fingertips or exterior panels stuck on top of structure. It is used to hold weapons (such as the Part x1740), objects and tools (such as a cup) or LEGO bricks. This is one of the things I love about the LEGO community - just look at the amount of time and energy being expended in considering this obscure topic !

They have been made with a variety of colours and have come with every minifigure from 1978 until 1989, and are still in usage from 1989 to the present time. The pictures really don't do it justice; the articulation is pretty impressive and fun to mess with in person, and I think this model would be a great, eye-catching addition to anyone's desktop. I used dark red and light gray styling, largely because that's the color I had for the finger joints and then I decided to keep going with it for the rest of the model. The photo above is what, to me, is the proper orientation of the minifigure hand when it is empty and holding basic utensils, but sometimes I use the hands the other way to get a different grip on a tool or to achieve a certain position.

Building Techniques: How much skill do you think the creator of this MOC has, in terms of building technique?

An idea for the finished set would be to include several different colored sets of those panels so people could change the final look of the hand - dark red, dark blue, silver and gold. I think the proper orientation is with the wide end up, but for poses like spearmen at attention, I turn it upside down, because that changes the angle of the accessory and brings the spear in closer to the body.
