I dislike the conditioner more than the shampoo since it feels like my hair is weighted down if I use the conditioner. Do not panic , the studies were not conducted under real life conditions on real human people, so it is probably over-cautious to avoid Octinoxate altogether. You just assumed it wouldn't be, even though it is true that it does not contain sodium lauryl sulfate. When I started using the Ever Pure Repair and Defend shampoo, my hair became very greasy and started falling out.If you are into chemistry (if not, we understand, just skip this paragraph), the reason is that electrolytes (you know, the Na+ and Cl- ions) screen the electrostatic repulsion between the head groups of ionic surfactants and thus support the formation of long shaped micelles (instead of spherical ones) that entangle like spaghetti, and viola, a gel is formed.
I do recommend other products by this brand, but would not recommend this specific product to anyone with unmanageable hair. A cleansing agent that's claimed to be so gentle on the skin that it hardly impacts the skin barrier.
L'Oreal may have gotten rid of the harsh sulfates, but it seems to have replaced them with unsavory substitutes. While I didn’t get to try this with color-treated hair (a recent first for me), I know how critical those details are and how detrimental sulfates and parabens can be on a high-ticket color job.
Sodium lauroyl sarcosinate is even worse, since it actually increases absorption levels, and can be contaminated with nitrosamines. This shampoo not only didn't clean the product out of my hair but it made my roots extremely greasy. A super common fragrance ingredient that can be found among others in lavender, ylang-ylang, bergamot or jasmine. And for someone to actually have adverse reactions from it, such as cancer, one would have to be exposed to it for about 8 hours. A super common fragrance ingredient found naturally in many plants including citrus peel oils, rosemary or lavender.g. glass containers, liquids, fragile, refrigerated or ice packed) will often require protective packaging material. There are also a number of PEGs, preservatives (like methylisothiazolinone, a human skin toxicant according to the CIR), and some irritating fragrance ingredients, although natural juniperus communis fruit oil and rosemary oil do provide the pleasant juniper and rosemary scent. While trying this new Ever Pure shampoo, I decided to eliminate my post-shower moisture assistants to see how much the shampoo could do on its own.
