About this deal

Dannii Minogue interviewed the author Scott Stuart on Instagram and she said - I've almost cried 3 times! It’s also a great example of how a parent can support their child as they grow through their own self-discovery.

Finally, they are invited by the story’s character to help children starting school by creating a leaflet. No matter how hard he tries, the shadow continues to be pink, and he knows he is not like the rest of the boys, especially not like his dad. The boy’s pink shadow, though, is his very being, and he must learn to love it and live with it and go back to school proud of his different-ness. It flows SO incredibly well and tells such a powerful story about being different and that it's okay to be different. With the love and acceptance of his father, he learns that everyone at times, has a shadow they wish was different . Het toont ons dat het niet erg is om anders te zijn en dat we trouw moeten blijven aan wie we diep vanbinnen zijn. This is an inspirational book written by a father to his son, after the child experienced bullying in school. This is an important book for a new generation of children (and adults alike) which exemplifies the concepts of unconditional love, respect and positive parenting. So… butch Dad puts on a dress too (he has his own secret interest evidently) and shows the boy pictures of people in their family who have interests outside their ‘shadow’ group – a blue-shadowed man who loves paintings and fashion, and a pink-shadowed girl who is into cars and engines in a big way.

Inspired by the best selling Melbourne author's own son, My Shadow is Pink is a beautifully written rhyming story of love and self-acceptance that touches on the subjects of gender identity, equality and diversity. I bought this story for my 4 year old little boy who loves to dress up in a tutu or dress and loves his Frozen water bottle. He received it as a gift for his birthday and I’m so glad he did, because it’s a beautiful way of exploring a child’s feelings though the medium of words and pictures.

It is a text that challenges gender stereotypes and is inclusive in terms of representing the LGBTQ+ community. Scott is a best-selling children’s book author who is committed to creating content that empowers young kids. Dat alles wordt op een toffe, mooie, aanstekelijke manier prachtig vormgegeven door middel van de tekst en de tekeningen.
