PDF / EPUB File Name: The_woman_who_lied_-_Claire_douglas.pdf, The_woman_who_lied_-_Claire_douglas.epub Emilia Ward lives in suburban London with her husband, their young son, and a teenager from her first marriage. Emilia is an ordinary mom—and she’s also the bestselling author of the Miranda Moody detective novels. I absolutely loved the novel within a novel vibe. I was never sure if I was reading parts of the real book or parts from the Detective Miranda Moody novel. Claire Douglas's best yet. I loved the literary setting, the simmering tension and the book-within-a-book. It's gripping, atmospheric, and so original -- GILLIAN MCALLISTER Emilia is a successful novelist, having just submitted her tenth book in a series. She lives with her daughter, second husband Eliott and son in her five bedroomed house in a London suburb. She is content with her life and proud of her work and family, even though she is hiding a secret about her new novel….. her life starts to unravel after a couple of mysterious happenings, which Emilia comes to realise are recreating events from her books. Creepy and unwanted as these things are, Emilia is more concerned that the conclusion of her new book has the death of her popular main character - meaning the culmination may mean the same for Emilia.

The book is about an author Emilia ward who has written a series of books on detective Miranda Moody (fictional), due to this success she is very well off living with her second husband and two kids. She starts to finalise her tenth book of the series, the last one where she ends up killing Miranda. She’s only submitted the book to her editors, publicist, and close friends+ family when all of a sudden she starts getting ‘stalked’, which all stem from her 10 books (taking aspects from each book and subjecting Emilia to them). What was initially brushed off a ‘crazy fan’ ends up turning up a notch when someone close to her is murdered in a similar fashion to how Detective Moody is killed off in her last book. But only a handful of people have read the final book. Someone is out there targeting her, who could it be? Emilia Ward is excited about the book she just finished writing. She has already published nine books in the series and she is happy that the new book is the last in the series. But when strange things start happening, she realises that she might have a stalker, someone is re-creating scenes from her books. However, when something is taken from her unpublished manuscript, she immediately knows that whoever is behind the pranks is someone close to her. Who would want to terrorise her, and who could be capable of murder? After reading a few of Claire’s books previously, I honestly thought I knew what I was letting myself in for when starting this one. But I was forced to think again….

The author, Claire Douglas, has masterfully blended the suspense with a great cast of characters and tension in every line. The Woman Who Lied is cleverly written, and the plot line kept me guessing until the end. I was desperate to figure out who was the person behind the terror, and my guess was completely wrong. A bestselling detective novelist and her family are in danger when chilling events from her novels begin happening around her in this gripping thriller from the British sensation—the #1 internationally bestselling author of The Girls Who Disappeared and The Couple at Number 9. The Woman Who Lied is a captivating psychological thriller that had me hooked from the beginning. I just couldn't put the book down, and I kept telling myself 'just one more chapter'. There were twists and turns, and I was, along with Emilia, suspecting everyone!

Emilia Ward lives quietly in suburban London with her husband and two children.Just an ordinary wife and mother. But also a bestselling crime writer. When she starts writing her tenth Detective Miranda Moody novel, however, life takes a frightening turn: an incident straight out of one of her novels occurs in real life.Just an unsettling coincidence, she thinks. Until it happens again. Then someone she knows dies exactly like a victim in the book she's still writing . . . A cleverly plotted dark and twisty thriller which will keep you guessing until the end -- ALICE FEENEYThere was one twist in the middle that was pretty incredible. That was one moment I thoroughly enjoyed. Other than that moment, there wasn’t much on offer. Plot aside, the characters were inconsistent at the very least. We were told a few times how that protagonist would do anything to protect her kids, but that didn’t extend as far as telling the truth just because she was embarrassed?? And then apparently, she was wise to the darker side of humanity because she was an author, but yet she couldn’t make any connections at any point, not even some rather obvious correlations. Emilia Ward is happily married to her second husband, Elliot, and is mother to Jasmine and Wilfie. She’s not just a wife and mum though, as she is also the bestselling author of the Miranda Moody detective stories, the 10th of which she has just written. However, after a few unsettling and weird incidents, Emilia realises these occurrences are mirroring events in her book, real life imitating art. Emilia is clearly concerned and is hyper alert, but things totally plummet when a friend dies in exactly the same way as in her new book. What is going on? How is it even possible that someone knows the contents as it’s not yet been published? Are Emilia and her family going to be the next targets? However, it’s slow to get going which is due to it being over detailed and over explained which halts the flow and makes it feel choppy. In all honesty I don’t feel the tension I should have been able to feel either which I think may be due to the increasing over complications and convolutions of the plot. This book is another addition to my loved list for 2023. The book is gripping, creative and hugely entertaining from start to end. I cannot find anything I did not enjoy about this story. Why have I not read more of this author’s work? I loved the different sides to this story and the extracts from Emilia’s book left me feeling as if I was reading two stories at the same time. This book was clever and it kept me curious right to the end.

Douglas is the queen of the unexpected twist, and this is her best wrongfooting yet -- GILLIAN MCALLISTER An unputdownable thriller. Spine-tingling mystery . . . I could not put this down! -- GRAZIA BOOK CLUB Kudos where kudos are due, this is a clever plot. However, I think Claire Douglas was trying to do too much. As a reader I think we were expected to suspend reality a bit more than I think was necessary. THE WOMAN WHO LIED is a gripping read, so cleverly plotted and brimming with tension. The book-within-a-book intrigued me and works beautifully to ratchet up the tension and deepen the mystery. I loved it -- GILLY MACMILLAN Truly tremendous, cleverly plotted with a deftly drawn cast and an enthralling one-sit read' 5* READER REVIEW

Creative Play

The characters, the plot, the rollercoaster ride of this book made me not want to stop reading. It kept me guessing throughout and more than once I literally gasped out loud. Would highly recommend. If you are looking for a creative, gripping thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat then you want to add this title to your TBR. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It’s a fantastic read!
