When training your dog, they may not immediately take to the all-in-one design, especially if they have not experienced a headcollar previously. Allow your dog to examine the headcollar before putting it on – When first introducing the headcollar, lay it out and let your dog familiarize himself with the smell and shape of it.

Above all, take it slow and let your dog go at its own pace to avoid putting him off of this new practice. Finally, clip the fastener either to your dog’s collar – creating two points of attachment, giving you a higher level of control which is particularly useful for hyper-active dogs, at least until regular usage of the Gencon improves their behaviour – or back onto the metal loop on the lead to form a conventional handle. I actually find him easier now he's a 55kg adult than when he was 6 months old and all over the place.
