It's an average alternate mode, it would be pleasing to fans of the original G1 toy but feels lazy compared to other recent Transformers. I like the Legends ones, but they are just a bit too small in comparison with the other Decepticons. My only hope now is that Hasbro doesn’t wait a a couple years to finish the trio off, and that Bombshell and Shrapnel both show up with the same style chests, and an overall cohesive look for the team!
They also have 5mm pegs on the bottom, allowing you to attach them to other weapons as extra blades or perhaps to Kickback's forearms. Kickback is a tad on the stout side, but apart from that this is just a beautiful homage to his original G1 toy.When I finally got to put them on the shelf together and they just didn’t feel like a cohesive team. I’ve decided that it’s not a deal breaker for me, and that’s probably just because these do look so nice. The more Earth-tone colors of Kingdom have been traded up for a very retro-scifi (circa the 90's) look.

In an interesting bit of sculpting trivia, the wings in this mode end on sharp-looking (but not actually sharp) ends. Here are some comparison shots of Legacy Kickback with the Commemorative Collection G1 Reissue figure, and boy do I think he represents well! But hey, I do collect an awful lot of Hasbro properties, so that’s bound to happen from time to time.
