About this deal

Crosstalk ghosting noise proved pretty much non-existent, even with Gravity’s tough ‘white-suited astronaut against black space’ shots. There are no artifacts associated with the shift and I defy anyone to tell the difference between it and a native Ultra HD model. Second, the projected image of the TK800 itself is bright enough and high contrast enough that the dark frame is difficult to notice in most circumstances.

The TK800 follows the DCI-P3 color targets along the proper hue line but most of the points are under-saturated. However given that the TK800 is best suited to rooms with a lot of ambient light, these particular issues will be less noticeable. Dissatisfied with the image quality of his new acquisition, Chris trained with the Imaging Science Foundation in 2006 and became a professional display calibrator. We could tell from testing the TK800 that the color wheel did limit the range of colors that it could deliver, but BenQ have done a good job of mapping HDR content to the projector’s native capabilities. The onboard audio system on most projectors is a joke, but BenQ has devoted some attention to it in the TK800M.

Plus from normal viewing distances resolution is more difficult to separate between this projector and a native one, it is other image attributes like black levels and colour which would make the differences visible, not resolution alone. Just make sure that your receiver is 4K and HDR-enabled, otherwise you’ll be missing out on all of the TK800’s potential. The TK800's, measured brightness uniformity is better compared with either of the HT2550 test units, perhaps due to manufacturing variance, though as noted earlier, these differences were meaningless in daily viewing. Bringing total visual enjoyment for all your home entertainment BenQ colour expertise perfectly balances high visual brightness and vivid colours for well-lit environments especially for exciting sport matches. If sports in a well-lit room is your thing, the BenQ TK800M should probably be among your top draft picks. So you can watch sports and movies or play games with family with lights on to see the joy on their faces. However that does mean that the TK800 has to use a color wheel, and this can result in rainbows for certain people who are susceptible to the effect. Despite a few negative attributes, the BenQ TK800 is a cracking projector that delivers enjoyable big screen action for those on a limited budget. Switching to 1080p content on Blu-ray stands up better to image scrutiny and we also used some streaming services in HD and 4K to further test and in the majority of tests the BenQ TK800 puts up a commendable and colourful performance that is likely to impress the intended users. If we had tested the BenQ as solely a home cinema model for critical movie viewing it wouldn’t score well at all, given that niche set of image quality points it would need to hit, but this isn’t one of those projectors and doesn’t pretend to be.
