About this deal

This fixture makes that very straight forward, and very repeatable when doing multiple routes of the same dimension (second image, routing cut outs in progress for the inner front panel of an LF module for a high end speaker system. I got the VS Milwaukee mainly because of the soft start and theirs is pretty nice compared to the Bosch. The professional blue power tools from Bosch are engineered for excellence – meeting the highest standards in speed, precision and robustness for great, professional work results. Here, on this project, I'm working with 1-1/4" maple ply and 1-1/2" maple ply, and doing cuts between 1" and 1-1/4".

Right or left switch and cord locations provides both choice and consistency, and the motor does not rotate during depth adjustment. My favorite weight is rolls of pennies since it's relatively cheap and if they don't work I can spend them or deposit them. Again if you can not lower the motor enough you unlatch the motor press in on the stop lever and lower the motor to the last or lower stop and adjust the know as needed, lock the motor and you ready to go. I read complaints of the switch location, but has not really bothered me and I don't know of a better place to put the switch where it would not create other problems. Bosch’s bearings aren’t as good either unless you rebuild with quality SKF high speed bearings like I did with mine. on April 08, 2017, 11:35 AM Might seem like a crazy question but will the Bosch FSN OFA router adapter plate fit the Festool rails and does the detent pin line up with the holes in the Festool rail?

hp combination plunge-and fixed-base router has the power to get results, with a 12 A motor and adjustable speed settings. I watched an accomplished woodworker spend an hour on a demo of the PC type and never get a joint that fit. It has softer start than the Bosch and a light which the Bosch doesn't have, newer models of the Bosch may have better soft start and a light. It features a Heavy Duty 12 amps, 2-1/4 HP, 8,000-25,000 rpm (no load) with plunge base and fixed base in a rugged heavy duty plastic tool case. Excelente, en lo personal me llegó antes de tiempo muy bien empacado con todos sus accesorios se ve de muy buena calidad lo usé solo una vez apenas pero se siente muy bien y por el precio me parece perfecto.

What I find the fixed base configuration useful for is trim functions using follower bits of various types- from setting the rebate for a high frequency driver after boring the original hole with a Forstner bit, or trimming a side or inner route flush using a 1/2" shear trim bit. It's been a while and I no longer own a 1617 but I think I had to rotate it so the flat edge of the plunge base is against one of the knobs, at roughly 45d angle (vs. I am using a Makita router rail attachment and making it work with my Bosch plunge base using another idea I found here.

not sure if that's a good thing or not, but I think I want to try and see if that'll help it glide along with the rest of the mechanism). As a professional, a lot is expected of you: speed, reliability, competence, endurance – in short: excellent results. This is serious stuff for power tool woodworking, cabinet grade MDF is like butter or cardboard in comparison. I can’t get the depth of the bit to be exactly what I want unless I DON’T use the fine adjustment feature of the router.I already am thinking a second router for through dovetails, or at least a motor for the plunge base I already have. Some router are better suited for a router table and some have better features for hand held, fixed base and plunge capabilities. Hi all, space I was able to adjust my Bosch 1617 router to fit the Festool lr32 system here are a couple of pictures of how I did it. All parts that were supposed to be included were, and the baseplate don't even have scuffs or scratches, so I'm sure either this wasn't used, or everything has been replaces.

My only complaint is that you cannot leave the guide locking screws in the fixed base of the router when storing in the case. The only "problem" that I'm concerned about is that the plate seems to need weight where the plate hole is. I noticed it sounded like the router was trying to adjust the RPM/speed and then would just turn off. This router is something that I may keep till I get really old and pass off to my kids, and will still be a great tool then. Lightly sanded the body with fine emery cloth and used it for a few years swapping between bases with no problems, for the last 4 or 5 years it has been used exclusively in my table.

Some big bits won't fit in a base that accommodates the PC bushings but your usage might not require that. The plunge base has an easy to reach lock that allows user to keep both hands on the router and minimize mistakes. The hand router’s variable speed dial allows you to set the optimal speed for the routing task and material.
