About this deal

have fired over a copy of Happy Feet for evaluation, which happens to be the same exact DVD from 2007 without a cardboard slipcover. The score by John Powell complements these pop numbers, and sets a suitable mood, be that excitement, reckless abandon, despondence, happiness or love. Happy Feet" may suffer from a few flaws, not the least of which its (at times) plodding pace and its neat and tidy happy ending. The video transfer is as good as can be expected on a standard DVD, with some anti-aliasing and other MPEG artifacts visible in some scenes such as those with a lot of snow and light colors. The filmmaker behind the 'Mad Max' and 'Babe' franchises turns his attention to musical fowl" Archived 19 July 2010 at the Wayback Machine.

Unfortunately in Antarctica his toe-tapping talent is deemed peculiar and poor Mumble is branded an outcast by the Emperor Elders and is even accused of causing the mysterious fish famine which is gripping the penguin community and threatening their way of life. Two soundtrack albums were released for the film; one containing songs from and inspired by the film, and another featuring John Powell's instrumental score. At the forbidden shore, Mumble, Lovelace and the Amigos are attacked by the two orcas, during which Lovelace gets free from the plastic rings. So, after we've seen both appealing fragments split off and achieve greater things in different spectrums, where does that leave the jazzy little photorealistic tale of a penguin that just wants to dance? The albatross was Steve Irwin's first voice role in the film before he voiced the elephant seal in the final cut.

We've got the three-minute Mumble Meets a Blue Whale (3:07) and a 29-second Happy Feet Moment (0:29) that carry over the animation from the film onto two added little bits, while a Dance Like a Penguin (5:21) featurette shows off how you can dance like Mumble. Emperor penguins have lived for centuries with one simple goal in life: to find their soulmates through their own unique heart song. This scene is done in Steve's classic documentary style, with the albatross telling the viewer all about the other characters in the scene, and the impact people are having on their environment.

Happy Feet is a jukebox musical, taking previously recorded songs and working them into the film's soundtrack to fit with the mood of the scene or character. More than likely, WB wants to keep its presence in the eco-commentary animation world prominent -- which would explain the year-passed additional copy. Miller said, "You can't tell a story about Antarctica and the penguins without giving that dimension. According to Miller, the environmental message was not a major part of the original script, but "In Australia, we're very, very aware of the ozone hole," he said, "and Antarctica is literally the canary in the coal mine for this stuff. For " Cars," the message was to stop and smell the roses - enjoy life for the journey, not the destination.

Mumble leaves the flock and has a series of adventures, making friends along the way, including a posse of street-smart little penguins, the "Adelie Amigos" led by the insufferably insouciant Ramon (voiced quite humorously by Robin Williams). Miller cites as an initial inspiration for the film an encounter with a grizzled old cameraman, whose father was Frank Hurley of the Shackleton expeditions, while partially inspired by earlier documentaries such as the BBC's Life in the Freezer. Ben Gunsberger, Lighting Supervisor and VFX Department Supervisor, says this was partly because they needed to build new infrastructure and tools.

Recently, we've done several changes to help out this wiki, from deleting empty pages, improving the navigation, adding a rules page, as well as merging film infoboxes. WB's standard-definition disc still looks and sounds great, though the special features are rather weak, which sets this package up as a solid Rental since the replay value crumbles rather quickly after a few views. In one corner, we've seen a good number of penguin movies that capture the same cuddly feel-good attitude, like Surf's Up, while in the other corner we've encountered our share of eco-friendly animated films that nail similar messages with more strength and concentration both, such as Wall-E. Lines of dialogue never get drowned out in the mess of effects, though the music numbers parallel on an odd level with the rest of the track at certain spots.

That might be one of the reasons that Happy Feet fails to resonate with some; instead of the off-kilter charm that, say, the clown fish Marlin from Finding Nemo or Sid the Sloth from Ice Age give off, Happy Feet's animation inches so close to realism that it sucks away some of those chances at caricaturist pairings between vocal talent and visual identification.Mumble uses courage, determination and, of course, his 'happy feet' to discover the truth, save Emperor Land and win the heart of his soulmate, Gloria (Murphy). Production was slated to begin sometime after the completion of the fourth Mad Max film, Fury Road, but geo-political complications pushed Happy Feet to the forefront in early 2003.
