Cologne is totally unisex (in my subjective opinion), proper and suitable for formal and informal events, day and night, and for all four seasons, but I think it's leaning toward daytime in spring and summer. Let's just say if I splashed myself with fruit juice, I would have achieved better sillage and logevity than with 4711. I got a 800ml bottle and use it when doing sports in summer, or as mosquito-repellent (likely not working) and room fragrance.

I'm writing this review a little differently than normally, because apparently this will have poor longevity. And wouldn't you know it, this thing lasted about 10 minutes on a test paper and about 20 plus minutes on skin. When I imagine what life was life before bathing was easy or air conditioning, it made me really appreciate what an eau de cologne could do. This comes from another time, another era (early 18th C), when dousing yourself in smell was improper/sacrilege? Not that it smells medicinal, but is has that bracing, healthful quality you think of when you smell eaux de cologne, embrocation waters and ointments, and digestive/health bitters.Due to the poor performance, and due to the fact that there are better citrus fragrances and colognes out there, I can't give 4711 Cologne a 10/10. In truth, it was probably just the evaporating alcohol that provided short-term cooling on the skin, but does that matter? Soft neroli emerges early on, rounding out the zesty citruses of the opening, and becomes the dominant note.

it lasts on your body for like about an hour at most, I use it for freshing up after my shower usually, it's not something you can wear through out the day.
