About this deal

She goes to visit her Grandma on holiday but little does she know she is in for a surprise which will teach her to change her ways. It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything.

When she’s turned into a cat, we get to see Ellie for who she really is behind the sadness of missing her dad, while she’s given the chance to make some unusual new friends and ultimately find a place to belong. Inspired by traditional Middle Eastern tales, this captivating adventure is full of magic, mystery and danger. In a dyslexia-friendly format, this is a magical and gently comic tale of friendship and thinking of others. The result of this constant upheaval is Ellie can’t make friends, isolating her and makes her sad, lonely and depressed.ISBN: 9781781128244 Author: Blackman, Malorie Publisher: Barrington Stoke Publication Date: 15th January 2019 Imprint: Barrington Stoke Cover: Paperback Dewey: 823.

So with a little bit of magic and some help from Jolly the cat, Grandma’s going to make sure that Ellie changes her ways. The inter-generational relationship between Ellie and her Grandma develops into something quite heart-warming too. Ellie doesn't take to her life as a cat but what she does find is Jolly isn't very well thought of by the other creatures in and around grandma’s house.Ellie and the Cat is a fun, middle grade story perfect for children just starting to read chapter books.

Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do. A cautionary tale of brats, cats and a little bit of magic from much loved and best-selling author Malorie Blackman, brought to life in a delightfully fun reading by actor Esme Sears. It’s a fantastic independent book seller that will actually be responsive and select appropriate books for you. What readers will notice with Malorie's new novel is how she has written from two different perspectives. There are very few illustrations in this book which I didn't like but a varied range of vocabulary to boost the children's literacy development.Malorie Blackman, illustrated by Matt Robertson Ellie is not happy to be staying with her grandmother. Ellie the Cat is no ordinary novel about a cat, it’s about friendship and understanding and had a nice twist in the tale. Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned. She has been described by The Times as ‘a national treasure’ and was the Children’s Laureate 2013-15. Ellie is the rudest, most spoilt child her grandma has ever met and it’s time that she learnt a lesson!

You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot! Her unhappiness instead of being obvious to adults is seen as bad behaviour and is considered a "brat " rather than seeing the real problem she has. She has been awarded numerous prizes for her work, including the Red House Children’s Book Award, and has also been shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal.Ellie doesn't want to as its just another move she can do without bit her mother insists as her father is going away to another job and she can’t look after her. In 2005 she was honoured with the Eleanor Farjeon Award in recognition of her contribution to children’s books, and in 2008 she received an OBE for her services to children’s literature.
