One can tell that Grimly was inspired by the appearances of the actors who originally portrayed the characters, but he made sure to put his own twist upon them to give them a whole new look. And there were definitely some moments that I would’ve wanted illustrations of but didn’t get, yet other illustrations in the book that either felt repetitive or that I wasn’t crazy about. I also adored the illustrations and the book is absolutely beautiful if you take off the dusk jacket.

This isn't a graphic novel by any means, but there aren't even pages on every page, or every other page. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.The pacing was snappy, and I loved the dialogue; this was the perfect book to read in preparation for Halloween!

The bottom line: Funny, beautifully illustrated, and full of soul, I loved Hocus Pocus: The Illustrated Novelization! I think most of that judgement came from the sequel and after watching the movie sequel, I think my judgment is a little less harsh. The story really doesn’t age well, but I’m giving it 4 stars because I absolutely LOVE the illustrations by Gris Grimly. It just isn't anything new or improved, and I don't think that reading it added any value to my day!

Hocus Pocus book is just stunning and colourful illustration style mixed of goth Edward Gorey, Tim Burton and characters in expressionism in both dark and light world.

The pages are made to look as though they are older than they are, so again, the attention to making this a beautiful book is clear to see.Overall I would still really recommend this, and it’s going to be the perfect book for any fan of Hocus Pocus. But this book did leave me sitting on the fence a little bit, which is why I have gone down the middle and awarded 3 stars. With dozens of original illustrations throughout, this Novelization is sure to become an automatic must-have among collectors and avid fans of the film.
