About this deal

Does this have everything that the US paperback has (ie blue text), does it have more/different stuff? Small sections of the book were downloadable off the internet before the release of the first edition, and it is said that these sections "circulated through the underbellies of Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Francisco, through strip clubs and recording studios, long before publication" – though very few were able to experience the book this way initially.

g. the hardcover Abarat series has thick glossy pages with full-color paintings and the paperback is just regular paper with none of the paintings), so I just wanna make sure I get the one that gives me the best experience. PLEASE NOTE: The whole colophon is full of misinformation: the first editions all state "2nd edition", with the fictional "privately distributed" edition that the "editors" of the Foreword allude to being the (fictional) "first edition". As the house mutates, so does Zampano's manuscript; the text takes on a life of its own, and the layout responds. Now, for the first time, this astonishing novel is made available in book form, complete with the original colored words, vertical footnotes, and newly added second and third appendices.Danielewski's first novel House of Leaves is a multi-layered fiction--part horror-story, part philosophical meditation, and mostly very good storytelling. I've read that House of Leaves is one of the most innovative books published and a great horror story, so I'm thinking of getting it. A FINE book in VERY GOOD+ jacket with a couple of short tears and roll to upper edges of the jacket, now protected in mylar.

Another interesting aspect is the fact that there are disagreements among the three texts (narratives, so to speak), yet they don't necessarily contradict each other. We hope they will provide you with a variety of ways of thinking and talking about this truly challenging and extraordinary book. Michiko Kakutani, The New York Times "Thrillingly alive, sublimely creepy, distressingly scary, breathtakingly intelligentit renders most other fiction meaningless. Experimental in terms of design, typogr aphy, structure and content, this is a fully immersive and novel reading experience you won't be able to forget. Stated "First Edition" with a full number line on the copyright page, but labeled "2nd Edition on the title page.Picture wise there are only a couple of pictures in the appendices so really I dont feel you are missing out by going for a cheaper edition. Danielewski's textured novel is about apprehensions, in all senses of the word: to anticipate with dread, to seize, to understand. Very scarce UK hardcover first edition with a total of 200 copies issued concurrent with the UK paperback. br>Discover the nightmarish tale of a house that is b igger on the inside than the outside that still inspires devotion among an army of fans. Navidson's exploration of a seemingly endless, totally dark, and constantly changing labyrinth in the house becomes an examination of truth, perception, and darkness itself.

This is a used book - there is no escaping the fact it has been read by someone else and it will show signs of wear and previous use.

What can we tell about Truant’s relationship with his insane mother, Pelefina Heather Lievre, especially from looking at the Whalestoe Institute Letters?

Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. The novel went on to win the New York Public Library's Young Lions Fiction Award [3] and gain a considerable cult following. I got to the part with the passage from the POE album- the remix of "Hey Pretty", track 18, on pages 88-89. The full title states it to be Second Edition, but to the verso if the title it's stated First Edition with full number run from 9 through 1.

In 1988 Danielewski graduated from Yale with a degree in English Literature; [12] he had studied under John Hollander, Stuart Moulthrop, and John Guillory. The questions, author biography, and suggested reading that follow are intended to enhance your group’s reading and discussion of Mark Z. What could have been a perfectly entertaining bit of literary horror is instead an assault on the nature of story.
