About this deal

Modern Hysteria offers the reader a glimpse into the lives of characters that are plagued by isolation, fear, desperation and trauma. As a parent, it is scary to think that my child might someday be susceptible to this, and even scarier to think of the things I can’t even imagine that will come across his path. His writing is dark and without boundaries and, as a result, he's won the Splatterpunk Award once after garnering 3 total nominations. There are never truly happy endings with tales like these but somehow I felt peace and closure with the final chapter. It brings to life the true horrors out there in life, of a world reliant on social networking and the need for acceptance!

Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. You know it's sick and disgusting and disturbing, but what you might not know is that Modern Hysteria's themes are poignant and relevant to today's youth culture. It also made me think about how society, social media, the web all gives a sense of invincibility in the way that we are allowed to sneak and hide and look at disturbing things even commit disturbing acts and if done correctly we don't have to take any responsibility for the things we do or say because we feel protected and justified in our actions because we have a video or a screenshot.

Reading this brought up similar emotions that Tender Is The Flesh brought up for me - just the parallels to the read world. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Aron's work I usually love because most of his output at this point is so comicly over the top with how gruesome the pictures that he paints are and how many taboos he chooses to break. This one will stick with me for a while because the things in this book happen daily to people and ultimately get passed over and ignored and that to me is what is truly horrific.

Aron Beauregard brings you another tale of depravity and gore that pushes the boundaries – as we’ve come to expect. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). Upon hitting rock bottom, Derek becomes obsessed with pulling back the curtain on the malevolent mastermind responsible for his brother's gruesome demise. In the era of viral social media challenges, some funny and some downright deadly Aron took that and elevated it.Always fun writing - and terrifying to think of how challenges like these are still so prevalent and continue to be a parent’s worst nightmare. There are not enough words to describe how much I loved this one and how much I hated that it had to end.

Aron Beauregard presents a story about one of the great dangers our youth face on the internet, the destruction it leaves behind, and the evil behind it. Despite a lack of urgency from the authorities and his outrage regarding the tragedy, Derek has also discovered a strange positive trend in his artistic trajectory. Aron definitely is on a massive run of truly stellar extreme horror offerings, and Modern Hysteria is no exception. This story will take you to many uncomfortable places, lots of gore and violence, and, of course, suicide. And with the things happening in Europe at the moment – I am stunned that people still refuse to believe what is shown to them. Take Oliver from Yellow or Henry from Sew Sorry or Vera in Son of the Sob and now Derek from Modern Hysteria. Definitely one of my favourites by Aaron, it was I'd say a bit more serious than his other books and I loved that! For people of a certain age – those who grew up in the real world – the world is fast becoming a place we can’t possibly understand.

Modern Hysteria - Aron BeauregardDerek has had his family ripped from him by an internet suicide challenge, run by the enigmatic Mr. Explora la mayor tienda de eBooks del mundo y empieza a leer hoy mismo en la Web, en tu tablet, en tu teléfono o en tu dispositivo electrónico de lectura.I was a little disappointed in one death, as in I wish they hadn’t died, but it all came together in the end! It also offers a truly terrifying insight into the predators that lurk virtually who readily capitalise on the vulnerable for their own deviant ends! Although, my favourite scene in the book is an all out Slasher scene that brought to mind Clive Bakers character Dr Decker, stalking a family through their house in the opening scenes of Nightbreed.
