About this deal

During our testing, we loved how the front Velcro enclosure created the perfect resting place for our chin, resisting our attempts to slump forward mid-nap. The only reason this pillow isn’t higher up is because the rest of the pillow isn’t quite so supportive. The Cabeau Evolution S3 updates the standard U-shaped travel pillow design with raised sides that gently cradled our head and neck when we used it. We gauged how easy the pillows were to transport by rolling them up, smooshing them down and packing each into its carrying case (if included). The products or services listed have been selected independently by journalists after hands-on testing or sourcing expert opinions.

That said, the Trtl proved far too big for our shorter tester, and both testers could feel the plastic brace in the middle poking through its padding. A brand-new, unused and unworn item that is not in its original retail packaging or may be missing its original retail packaging materials (such as the original box or bag). I’ve also been trialling this on the train, and found it to be rather comfy for when I’m sitting in a window seat. The S3’s memory foam manages to be soft, springy and supportive all at once; it’s firm enough that it kept our head from slouching too far to the side but not so firm that it dug into our cheeks and ears (unlike another popular memory foam model we tested). An added bonus could be that if your bag is a bit too big for the sizer, you can take out your neck pillow and wear it around your neck when they measure your bag.

But, Ayo responded that it took her ‘five minutes’ to get the travel pillow and pack her stuff, and it was a very easy and cheap solution – especially when you’re travelling a short distance. Side comfort/support: We noted how comfortable and supportive the pillow felt when leaning our necks to the side as well as when leaning against a hard surface (as a traveler would be able to do when sitting in a window seat). Behind-head comfort/support: We noted how comfortable and supportive the pillow felt when placed around the neck and/or behind the head.As it is self-inflating, the pillow can be removed from its stuff sack and will inflate to a standard size. Ayo then takes out all the filling from the pillow and advises people to make sure they get a travel pillow that has a zipper for ‘easy stuffing’.

This amount includes seller specified domestic postage charges as well as applicable international postage, dispatch, and other fees. The travel pillow doesn’t fold down as small as others but it comes in a handy carry case which can be carabiner-clipped onto bags and suitcases. Given that it also isn’t machine-washable, this probably isn’t a pillow you’d want to rub your face against long-term.There’s no hook to hang it off backpacks, but we loved the buckle-style clip, which meant we could quickly and easily tweak the fit (something which press studs don’t allow). We evaluated pillows of all different designs and materials on both comfort and build to determine the best travel pillow for trips via plane, bus or car. One side then sits on top of the other so you have a double layer of pillow underneath your chin, so keeping your head up. Once loaded, you can bend and twist the pillow into any shape and snap closed to securely fasten around your luggage handle, or just wear it around your neck en route to your flight.

The comfiest travel pillow in the world is useless if it’s too big to travel with, which is why one of the best things about the Evolution S3 is the fact that it compresses down to half its size. Plus, because it’s attached by a Velcro strap, the closure can be customized to fit any traveler’s size and desired support level. I’ve also found it just depends on what you’re stuffing it with — the plusher the clothing (think: sweaters, down jackets) the more comfortable the neck pillow. Like the Cabeau S3 and Ostrichpillow Go Neck, it comes with a sturdy (though less compact) travel case that clips to your luggage. Unlike traditional U-shaped travel neck pillows, it has full 360-degree memory foam neck support so your head and neck won't bounce around, and still compresses down to 60% of its expanded size for easy transport.Travelrest’s bestseller is a well-made and supremely soft pillow, but its memory foam proved too stiff in our testing, and its sides were so tall that they pushed uncomfortably against our cheeks.
