About this deal

I’ve been concerned by this issue in a few other books of late and I’ve been trying to avoid it in my own writing.

When to kill, who to kill, whether to kill are all questions which have to be answered at great speed if he wants to stay alive. Within days, Grace is racing against the clock, chasing a killer driven by the force of one man’s greed and another man’s fury. I hope they're able to improve things and make it a bit more exciting, otherwise it could just fade away, and that would be a shame. When Sir Isaac Quoit, chairman of the Atomic Energy Authority, disappears without trace, MI5 are alerted to the. The Grace thrillers have become something of an annual treat since the first, Dead Simple, was published in 2005.

The thing I really like about James’s books is that he makes you care about the regular list of characters and what happens to them. I think a conclusion to this element of the story would make me a lot happier because I find myself just shaking my head in disappointment every time I read a bit more. There are a few bits here that are kind of vital to later story lines, so even if you’ve been put off by my ramblings, it’s still worth reading.

I was also extremely glad to see that Glenn had cracked the not-so-obvious-but-kind-of-obvious romance between two members of Roy's team, whilst Roy was able to finally work out how the Argus reported managed to know everything moments after Roy had found things himself. Peter James keeps me gripped with his fast-paced storytelling, likeable characters and subtle hints to previous books. It’s certainly not bad enough to abandon the series just because of this one book, and besides – maybe you’ll like it. In the eagerly awaited latest installment in the bestselling Roy Grace series, Detective Superintendent Roy Grace finds himself plunged into an unfamiliar and rarefied world of fine art; but beneath the veneer lurks greed, deception and violence. Kevin Spinella, chief crime reporter for the Brighton Argus, demands details on the latest threats to Gaia even though he’s on his honeymoon in the Maldives.Yet when a vicious gangster is released from prison and an unidentifiable headless torso is found, a nightmare unfolds before Grace’s eyes. Lorna Belling, desperate to escape the marriage from hell, falls for the charms of another man who promises her the earth. I fear that the series may get tedious but there certainly doesn’t seem to be any sign of that (apart from the Sandy part).

It’s brilliantly done of course, but its EIGHT books later now and I would like some kind of resolution there soon. One might say James gives one a lot to consider and sometimes you may feel like you need a scorecard to keep track of all the players. We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. James utilises his knowledge of the movie industry (he used to be a Hollywood producer) to create convincingly gross and egotistical characters like Larry Brooker. The villain, Smallbone, is introduced and we find he is plotting to burglarize the hotel suite of Gaia, the celebrity Grace is protecting, but nothing ever comes of it.Another of the series strengths is with the great supporting cast, most notably partner and friend Glenn Branson. Many of the lesser known subterranean and hidden rooms and corridors of the Royal Pavilion feature in the thriller, including the tunnel that runs through the Pavilion gardens.

I felt like James included too many characters too soon, but that's probably my fault for starting at book 8. Two of the author's old favourites found their way into the story - his missing wife Sandy (did you know, he had a wife who went missing. But then James really knows his local officers because he regularly shadows the force to ensure his procedural detail is spot on. That same afternoon, workmen digging up a park in another part of the city, unearth the remains of a woman in her early twenties, who has been dead for thirty years. Perhaps it’s because I’d only just read another one, so maybe I’m getting Roy Grace fatigue – although I doubt it.If you fail to comply with this obligation, we may have a right of action against you for compensation.
