About this deal

Make a cylinder out of cardboard that will hug the bottle top and is wide enough for your mini mag light to fit into. Then cut directly into the fender of the foot and glue in the cylinder. take the bottle cap and cut out the top. replace it with some blue acetate. you should be able to put the mag light in and out of the cylinder and close it with the bottle cap. (pic 4, Fig 2) Headlights (I used two small bowls. You can use round tap lights, coasters, anything at all that’s heavy enough.)

SORRY-in the pictures one of my lights fell off…i noticed just now, If you scroll at the bottom… you’ll find links to see my costume in a better way). Before you start building the costume itself, you will have to go through a whole set of preliminary measurements and sketches to determine exactly how the costume will fit. To do this, you will need a large sheet of cardboard or paper (I used cardboard) that is big enough to crouch sideways against it (the position that your body will be in when in car mode), then crouch and have someone trace your outline onto it. The reason you do this is to be able to draw out the car profile exactly to the right size of your crouching body. You have to do a few smaller sketches on paper to cement your idea before you actually draw against the outline. We added squares to each side for shoulders. they do not have a top at this point in time. we added 2 styrofoam squares to have the shoulder lid rest there. (pic 1)Multiple sheets of "Foamular", a rigid insulation material for carving details. I got mine at Home Depot. At this point in the process, your costume's basic form and transformation action is completely finished (yay!), but you still have to make the heart and soul of the costume: the exterior look. This step will include creating the grille, hood, fenders, and roof. For this step, I cannot really give any measurements, as everything I did was based on visual appeal as I was going. I’ve been seeing a few DIY converting Transformers Bumblebee costumes around the internet for a while now. Recently my son has been obsessed with Bumblebee from Transformers and while there’s always the option of buying the transforming Bumblebee costume, I decided to attempt to make the costume for him. I’m happy to report that my attempt ended up looking pretty decent. I did make the costume on the fly and eyeballed everything so there are no measurements. So this is going to be less of a tutorial and more of a guide if you want to make a DIY converting Transformers Bumblebee costume of your own. DIY Converting Transformers Bumblebee Costume

This homemade Transformer (that actually transforms) Halloween costume took a whole week to make. I got the idea to make a transformer costume, but then I thought it would be cool if the transformer would actually transform… so we made the costume transform. One of the most iconic figures in the Transformers is Bumblebee. My friend loves him as a character, so we decided to make her a costume for the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) The next foamular part is the area below the grille. This area is much easier as you will not need to shape or sand the pieces. All you need to do is simply cut out pieces to cover the area below the grill, keeping a small rectangle at bottom, and glue them on the same way (pic #11 for reference). Head Shot wrote:for the people complaining about the wrong head, go make yourself a better full body, fully transforming bee costume then. Learn from my mistakes* I initially made the length of the hood way too long and the costume flopped all around my son’s shoulders. I later cut off the front of the hood to fix my mistake. To avoid this, for the length of the hood, you want to make it maybe 2.5 or 3 times the depth of the child’s body so that there’s room, but not too much room.Learn from my mistakes* I made the opening way too big and his whole body would come right through the opening. I later added more foam pieces to the opening to make it smaller. Learn from me and make sure the opening is big enough to fit their head but not big enough that their shoulders would fit through too. Front Bumper There will always be negative whiners, on all of the boards, but the positive folks far outweigh on here. I also wanted my son to have a mask and gloves for when he transforms into Bumblebee but we were sadly sold out of the Bumblebee Mask. Instead, I painted this Ant-Man mask and it came out great. I also used a pair of these toddler gloves so that my son’s hands would be covered. Final Thoughts Also, this costume doesn’t work well at all with stairs. Going up stairs is fine, but going down doesn’t work. Maybe you will be able to overcome this obstacle with your design. I’ll show you what I did right and what I did wrong. Hopefully, I can make this really easy for you. Making a Homemade Transformer Costume

I just took some styrofoam and carved and sanded it into the shape i wanted. then covered it in craft foam. (pic 4 + 5) I attached the wheels to the arm hole with some tape on the inside and only at the top. This will allow the wheels to swing in when my son transforms into the robot. Be sure tape the wheels a few millimetres away from the car to allow the wheels to swing in and out. Finishing Touches

Besides they repainted the prime helmet because that helmet came out before the bumblebee helmet, theyve probably been using that costume for awhile at that dealership, and the helmet has a voice changer to make the guy inside sound more robotic for talking. I added two triangular pieces to the hood opening so that it would stay open a little even when closed. Draw and Cut Wheels The second and most important element of the transformer costume is the hood and doors. The reason that this part is so important is that the hood and doors make up the main and most crucial transformation elements. When creating this part, make sure that all transformation action is sound before moving on (test multiple times). After some tweeking, we decided to cut the shoulders off and attach them to the lid with elastic. That way, the wearer can put their arms up and down.

Bumblebee’s calf is just a rectangle. It is just slightly wider than the strip underneath the thigh. Before painting I drew in the details in pencil to make it a little easier. Also, you don’t have to, but if you want it to look a little cleaner, this is where you want to fill in any large gaps between your pieces before painting. Christ if it weren't for the whiny final fantasy/kingdom hearts fans, we would be THE biggest group of whiners as a whole in regards to a fan base.Remember that you don't have to get it right on the first time; if you are using pencil you can sketch over it and erase if it looks bad.
