Some formulations can cause blurred vision on application, sosuggest that patients test a new product before theyhavetodrive. The blurring will usually clear after afewminutes; Advise patients to take regular breaks during long tasks that require visual concentration. This can include looking away from the computer screen, for example, or remembering to blink regularly; The recommended dose is 1-2 drops of CELLUVISC ® in the affected eye/each affected eye, 4 times a day or as often as needed. Mild side effects: Eye drops and ointment can cause mild stinging, blurred sight or a funny taste in the mouth soon after putting them in.

At the time of writing there is limited published experience regarding the safety of carmellose sodium in human pregnancy, however, carmellose sodium eye drops have been used for many years with no adverse effects reported and the manufacturer states no special precautions are necessary during pregnancy. Schaefer advises that artificial tears may be used for all appropriate indications during pregnancy (Schaefer 2007). The following additional adverse reactions have been identified during postmarketing use of Celluvisc in clinical practice. Because postmarketing reporting of these reactions is voluntary and from a population of uncertain size, it is not always possible to reliably estimate the frequency of these reactions. It is strongly recommended that the UK National Poisons Information Service be consulted on cases of suspected or actual overdose where there is doubt over the degree of risk or about appropriate management. At the time of writing there is limited published experience regarding the safety of carmellose sodium in breastfeeding, however, carmellose sodium eye drops have been used for many years with no adverse effects reported and the manufacturer states no special precautions are necessary during breastfeeding. Carmellose has a high molecular weight and would be unlikely to be present in breastmilk. Schaefer considers that most eye drops are compatible with breastfeeding and that artificial tears are not amongst those ophthalmic preparations likely to raise concern (Schaefer 2007).Require long term on-going monitoring and dose adjustment to ensure efficacy and minimise toxicity by a specialist Eye ointment: Pull down the lower lid and squeeze about 1/2 a centimetre (1/4 of an inch) of ointment into each eye. You need to take care not to touch the eye with the end of the tube. This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. SOOTHING AND LUBRICATING: relieves ocular discomfort and irritation associated with dry eyes and environmental factors such as wind, salt-water, smoke or computer work. Make sure that the single-dose container is intact before use. The solution should be used immediately after opening. To avoid contamination or possible eye injury, do not let the open-end of the single-dose container touch your eye or anything else. Wash your hands before use. Carboxymethylcellulose is often used if hypromellose or carbomer 980 does not give adequate relief. Eye drops: You only need to place one drop in each eye. If you need to give more than one type of eye drop, leave at least five minutes between applying each type of medicine. If irritation, pain, redness and changes in vision occur, or worsen, treatment should be discontinued and a new assessment considered. Recommend that patients who smoke stop smoking and avoid smoky environments. Smoke can trigger symptoms of dry eye disease, and can cause or exacerbate other health problems. Many pharmacies offer a smoking cessation service to support patients; Carmellose 0.5% Eye Drops relieve severe symptoms of dry eyes such as burning, itching, and grittiness (foreign body sensation). Caremllose 0.5% is a sterile, ophthalmic, strong moisturising and protective solution, with a physiological pH, based upon Carmellose.
