About this deal

Wired: Turn off the Wi-Fi (if any) on your computer and connect to the router using an Ethernet cable. Speed is one thing, but coverage is just as important. This isn’t always proportional to price. Mesh kits usually include two or three devices – called nodes – which communicate with each other wirelessly and provide a single Wi-Fi network over a much larger area than a single router can. Your devices will disconnect from one node and connect to a closer one as you move around your home. Whole Home Coverage: Cover up to 6,000 sq. ft. with seamless, high-performance WiFi that eliminates dead zones and buffering. † Seamless roaming/No-Drop Wi-Fi refers to the Wi-Fi roaming that supports IEEE 802.11 k/v/r protocol, helping connected devices search and shift from one AP to another within 0.3 second. Clients need to support 802.11 k/v/r and may require additional setup. Performance may vary depending on the client device.

There’s an argument for still getting Wi-Fi 6E for future proofing, but there’s a snag there too: Wi-Fi 7 is faster and better still. Sure, those kits are considerably more expensive, and any Wi-Fi 6E mesh system has the same problems, but it means the Velop Pro 6E is likely only to appeal to early adopters with Wi-Fi 6E devices, and especially those in the US where the kit is noticeably cheaper than it is in the UK. TP-Link’s Deco PX50 is the best mesh Wi-Fi system for most people. That’s because it’s easy to set up, provides good speeds that should be faster than your broadband speed and is a sensible compromise between price and the very latest tech. If the name doesn’t give the game away, this is a Wi-Fi 6E mesh system. Linksys has kept the price down by making a few compromises such as putting only 1Gbps Ethernet ports on each node, despite the fact that the Pro 6E is capable of faster speeds than that. Clients need to support 802.11k/v and may require additional setup. Performance may vary depending on the client device. Easy Setup and Management: The Deco app helps you set up your network in minutes with clear visual guidance and keeps you in control even when you aren't home.

Ideal for people looking for better coverage and signal strength than provide by their current router. At the outset we should say that the Sky Q mesh network at our place of residence was working perfectly well before the TP-Link Deco P9 tubes turned up, so it's not as if we're living in a place that's particularly bad in terms of Wi-Fi dead zones. Still, the Deco P9 devices have been doing a fine job so far. All of these are pure Wi-Fi mesh systems, however. If what you’re chiefly interested in is the combination of mesh and powerline networking, the Deco P9 is the only game in town. TP-Link Deco P9 review: Design and features Ideal for people who love smart home devices. Incorporating a Zigbee smart home hub this router brings many IoT brands under the control of a single app.

If you live in a larger home and want more coverage, then Netgear also sells a kit with two satellites instead of just one (these are in addition to the main router in each kit), but that is more expensive still. I found the network to be quite reliable, except for on a few occasions where my internet connection would cut out for a minute or two. This was very infrequent, and not a major issue, but it was rather annoying when this bug did occur. It uses a dynamic combination of 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz networks to create a single seamless Wi-Fi connection that automatically determines the fastest and most efficient connection for your device. Netgear’s Orbi mesh systems are known for their high prices but, at the same time, their performance. The RBK762S is a tri-band Wi-Fi 6 system which can deliver gigabit speeds to compatible devices when they’re relatively close to one of the two routers. Another benefit – if you already have an Asus router that supports AiMesh – is that you can pair it with the XT9 and upgrade your existing system and get even bigger coverage.Setup takes a minute or two for each device that you want to connect up, but it's really just a question of waiting for the indicator light to cycle through various colours. The app will make suggestions about where each of the units should be placed, based on how many floors you've got in your house. We managed to get everything up and running in an average-sized two-storey semi-detached without any problems. As with some of the others here, to take advantage of the fast Wi-Fi speeds you’ll need compatible phones, laptops or other devices that support 160MHz channels. And with devices that do, it’s possible to get over 1Gbps. With all 3 units installed in the attic, main floor and basement of my 4,000 square foot home I was able to enjoy complete coverage. Assuming that’s not a problem, the Eero 6 is just as impressive as the original, with a great app and easy setup. Of course, performance is also excellent, though you’ll need devices with Wi-Fi 6 to get the best speeds from the system.

The MR600 supports TP-Link Onemesh. Different technology to Deco Mesh but should have given seemless roaming through the houe. That's why I decided to go down the TP-Link route so I could take advantage of the Mesh technology. The conclusion is clear: in a regular domestic setting, a good quality Wi-Fi-only mesh system is likely to give you better performance than the Deco P9’s hybrid approach. My devices stayed connected to WiFi but every ten to thirty minutes internet access disappeared. Only sollution as mentioned a lot seemed to be disconnecting from the WiFi and reconnecting. But the connection issues kept returning. I've changed the positions of the deco units. Cnhaged the ethernet cables between the main unit and the modem. Turned everything off and on. Reset everything. Last thing I did was to disconnect both slaves and use only the main deco.

The original Wi-Fi 5-based Eero system is still on sale and is cheaper, and a good alternative if you don’t need Wi-Fi 6 yet – or Zigbee. At all ends and corners of the house – even out in the conservatory – we've been able to get speedy and stable connections about on a par with what we were getting from our old router (and in some cases the connection seems to have improved). If you've got several floors or a peculiarly shaped house, then you might really feel the benefit. However, that said, if you simply want the fast speeds that the XT9 can deliver on newer devices then it’s still a fine choice. They worked faultlessly but weren't Mesh. Even though I set up the SSIDs on the Devolo wifi units to the same as my main router, wegot breaks in connection as we moved around the house with portable devices.Ideal for people struggling to achieve a good wireless connection throughout their home or into their home office. Anyway. Installing went great. My original modem/router was put in bridge mode and I connected the main deco and two slaves pretty easily. The main deco was situated in the meter cupboard on the ground floor. The first slave on the first floor and the second slave on the second floor. For about a week things looked great. WiFi speed almost matched the ethernet/wired speed. It’s great to see a bit of fresh thinking in this market. The question is, does it actually work, or are you better off with a conventional mesh product? And, in turn, it means that you get a good, fast Wi-Fi connection wherever you put the units: they can be further apart than those from other kits which have to use Wi-Fi. Plus, because they don’t use Wi-Fi to communicate with each other, you get the full Wi-Fi speed for your devices without paying the higher price for a tri-band mesh kit. Wireless: Connect to the wireless network of your Deco. (The wireless network you configured during the internet setup)
