About this deal

Discs can be made of plastic or metal. Plastic is lighter and less expensive but metal can class up the look of your planner.

A: I get this question all the time, and I have great news. I use the HP Instant Ink system to print super affordably. Here’s an entire post all about it. The discbound system is basically a combination of a ring binder with a spiral-bound book to combine the best of both worlds. If you like creating your own planing and note-taking system, ringbound and discbound planners offer a great deal of flexibility and modularity.

The coolest feature though is the paper itself. The sheets have reinforced holes with small openings that allow them to slip in and out of the spirals of the notebook without any tearing. The refills for these Filofax notebooks are available in dotted, blank, ruled or graph, depending on the size. You can also find a compatible hole punch for more versatility. Some of our favorite ways to use discbound systems are for our Meal Planner, Budget Binder, Household Management Binder, and Student Planners! Why Choose a Discbound Planner vs Other Binding Systems

Note: the Dokibook punch in my opinion, is useless. You have to punch each hole individually. If you’re going to use the ARC & Dokibook together, definitely invest in the ARC punch. Inkwell Press inserts can be used in the MAMBI (there will be a small gap at the top and bottom and the Inkwell’s stems are shorter) I know. We’re well into the 21st century. Yet we still sell ‘em and you still buy ‘em. What can I say… I get loads of question about what a discbound planner is, how it works, and how to get set up, so I thought I would compile the ultimate guide to discbound planning here.

Binders, Spiral, Or Discbound Systems

Record "who, when, where and why" at the top, "what" in the middle and "actions arising" at the the bottom. And remember the first two questions for any meeting: “Why are we here?” and “How will we know we are finished?” In 2015, the Happy Planner was released which built on the large, all-in-one life/family/work planner systems that had been on the market using wire/coil binding (like the Erin Condren Life Planner) except using the discbound system which added the flexibility of a ringbound planner to these behemoth planners. Martha Stewart’s line of discbound notebooks through Staples ARC line. The biggest players in discbound planners are: Bio notebooks have tough, earthy-coloured covers made from recycled cardboard bound by bio-degradable discs. Andre Tomas and Andre Martin (from whom the Atoma brand name was derived) invented and patented the first disc-binding system. In 1948, they sold their patent to Georges Mottart, who founded Papeteries G. Mottart n.v., the exclusive producer of disc-binding systems in Europe until the mid-1990s, when the patent expired. Atoma sells 1–1.5 million disc-bound notebooks yearly. [1]

Before searching for accessories and things to buy for your discbound planner, decide what size you want first to be sure everything will fit correctly. 2. Do you want to start from scratch? One reviewer wrote: “Got this to take notes for my event planning. Love it. Easy to use. Compact, fits in almost any bag. Paper is easily replaceable. Sturdy and strong rings, papers wont fall out. Slim design. Love it. Very handy.” Somewhat compatible – the MAMBI stem is slightly longer, there is a small overlap at the top and an empty disc at the bottom. Microsoft Word: http://buildabiggeronlinebusiness.teachable.com/p/how-to-make-printables-in-microsoft-word A: If you want a done for you system that you don’t have to think about, of course I recommend the Sweet Life Planner . If you want to DIY a planner or find other options, my favorite place is Staples or Blitsy.com. Staples has the Arc system with several cover and disc options, and Blitsy also has several options.

Why Choose a Discbound Planner vs Other Binding Systems

Nothing is compatible with the MAMBI Mini Happy Planner as it is smaller than A5 & Half US letter size The disc spacing and mushroom size are almost identical so you could use the ARC punch for adding inserts to the TUL. The TUL also has a punch but it looks nowhere near as sturdy as the ARC. Discs from 8mm to 28mm in 4mm steps - buy one or many to build your own book or pimp one of our standard products

One of our favorite places of course is within our Paper Hearts Planner Co. Shop. We sell super affordable printable planners and planner inserts for planners and come out with a new design each month! To punch holes in paper that will fit a discbound planner, you need what is called an arc punch or sometimes called a discbound punch. These hole punches will punch what looks like an arc into your paper. The discbound system truly gives you a way to customize your planners, notebooks, and binders exactly the way you want! We truly couldn’t recommend the discbound planning system more! But if you have more questions about how to make disbound planners and notebooks, we’d love to hear from you! First, what’s so great about disc binding anyway? It basically combines the best of a 3 ring binder with a spiral bound book. So why should you choose to use a discbound system verse other binding systems? Simply because they are so customizable!

What else would you like to know about discbound notebooks?

This binding system creates a unique and customizable way for you to create planners, notebooks, binders, bullet journals, and more. Supplies You Need To Make Your Own Discbound Planner Note that the Inkwell Press is 7″ wide x 9″ high not 9.25″ high. The MAMBI classic is 7″ wide x 9.25″ high.
