About this deal

Stranger Things: Subverted in Season 2 (at least from the boys' perspective) with the introduction of Max, a tomboy girl who likes skateboarding and video games. In The Cinderella Murder, Nicole is naturally a strawberry blonde and was a shy, dorky girl with little self-confidence as a teen; she tended to be so focused on her studies she didn't have much room to figure out who she was beyond that. Her more glamorous and outgoing roommate Madison tended to look down on her, though her other roommate Susan was protective of her and even tried to set her up with a classmate. As an adult, Nicole is more confident and comfortable in her own skin, and dyes her hair dark brown. The idea that I could ever lose any weight at all, let alone keep it off afterwards was, for so long, nothing more in my mind than an impossible dream. And yet, in under two years, that dream eventually, finally, become reality, and in the end all it took was for me to have found advice that actually tangibly worked.

Anne of Green Gables: Anne definitely believes this. Her relationships with Rachel Lynde and Gilbert Blythe are openly hostile at first because they teased her about her red hair, which she hopes will some day darken into "a real handsome auburn" (which it eventually does). Still, though at times she can get very careless and cause mishaps, Anne is popular with her peers and rarely considered "uncool" by other people. The book tells the story of my own personal weight loss journey. It is largely told as a memoir, offering insight into various aspects of the first four decades of my life, where, for 90% of that time, I was fatter than 90% of those around me. Whether it is called Atkins, keto or something else, there are fierce critics of low-carb, high-fat fat diets that turn the "healthy food pyramid" upside down, promoting a daily intake virtually devoid of carbs, lean on vegetables and dripping in fat. It flies in the face of common sense and increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, they say. Family Guy: The Goldman family, father, wife and son are all gingers and are walking clichés of uncool tropes. There were moments of possibility between extended periods of no hope. Nothing has worked for me so nothing will. It’s a mental trap that I fell into for a very long time."

Dr Lucy Burns: And I'm Dr Lucy Burns. Welcome to this episode of Real Health and Weight Loss. Good morning, lovely listeners, it's Dr Lucy here. This week I am without my fabulous Dr Mary, but I have another wonderful, wonderful guest for us to chat with and you'll notice that on our podcast, we don't have many men. I think that Brendan might be our third. But he has such a wonderful story that many of you will be interested to hear and potentially resonate with, and I think it's a story of hope for many of us as well. So I am super excited to introduce to you today, Brendan Reid, friend, and thank you for coming on the podcast.

We now know that people vary in how their blood sugar and insulin respond to the exact same meal. What one person eats and seemingly has no problem with can make another fat."Brendan's total weight loss, weight maintenance, and improved health through eating low carb -Brendan went from 132 kg to 82 kg in the space of about 15 months and has only regained 2 kilos of that weight. Brendan also experienced being pain free having previously had chest pain, as well as a drastic reduction in his C-reactive protein (CPR) test which tests for inflammation. by Brendan Reid | Apr 27, 2022 | The Fat Ginger NerdPhoto by Jamie Matociños on Unsplash It was while researching for the later chapters of The Fat Ginger Nerd in 2020, that one day I stumbled upon something that filled me with a terrible, yet familiar, sense of dread. I had found the very diet that had been prescribed... The lipostat theory Dr Lucy Burns: Aww, absolutely. And you know what, I'm a tiny bit teary over that because it is, it's so, I think for so many people that the stigma and the results of being overweight and the life that they've led because of it, you know in a true and just society that there shouldn't be any need to change yourself to fit in. But we know that, you know I would love to be able to wave a wand and just to live in a fair and just society, but we don't. But I also love the fact that what it's done for you is not just about fitting into a society, it's about changing you know, your trajectory and the health path that you were heading down. For people who are struggling to simply eat less, rather than starve yourself up front, try changing what it is you’re eating and let that run its natural course."

Today in January 2022, I weigh 87kg/191lb. Yes, that means a slight increase on my original goal weight, but when considering all of the above, in the grand scheme of things, I have, over these last five years, remained more or less weight stable. Fruits, vegetables, grains. All of the things that dietary guidelines the world over continue to recommend as they always have, and yet for me, the very same things that appear to have instead contributed to my weight issues from the very start.

I had chronic chest pain. To tie my shoelaces I had to ... grab my stomach and shift it to one side so that I could reach around it.
