About this deal

These hideous effects have made the Plagueburst Crawler a much-hated weapon of war. Enemies strive to destroy them at any cost, while even the daemons of Nurgle look at them askance. After all, where the Plagueburst Crawlers strike, there can be no cycle of rebirth, no matter how foul. For its victims, there is only ever-lasting death. Similarly, there is a lot of flexibility when it comes to choosing Command Assets, since Heretic Astartes Command Assets that can be used by your Chaos Space Marines units and Legiones Daemonica Command Assets will affect any Daemons in your force. Heldrake • Stormbird • Thunderhawk • Chaos Storm Eagle • Chaos Fire Raptor • Hell Blade • Hell Talon • Harbinger • Chaos Dreadclaw • Kharybdis Assault Claw • Fire Lord • Doom Wing Spray the entire model with a few thin layers of hair spray. Get the cheapest stuff you can find from a can. Theoretically, you could airbrush liquid hair spray (out of the pump style plastic container), but I haven’t tried it. The Plagueburst Crawler comes with 12 wounds and features a 3+ save, 5++ invulnerable save and once again the 5+ Death Guard Disgustingly Resilient save. Pretty much the same as the bloat drone other than having a pair of wounds extra. The major difference however is that the Crawler comes in at a whopping Toughness 8. If you thought the drone was tough, this takes it a whole step further! This vehicle once again is a daemon engine with the Nurgle keyword, making it play nice with Epidemius etc. The Crawler features a degrading profile, lowering its movement, strength and BS as it goes down in wounds. The big loser here is its mobility. While it starts at a 9” movement range its movement characteristic takes way harder losses as you go down in the chart than the drone does. Its degrading ballistic skill profile also means that its very meagre BS4+ becomes a 5+ as soon as it hits halfway. On the flip side the crawler does have a higher strength. Wargear

The same technique can also work with a coarse salt like kosher salt. Instead of applying the hair spray, use water to deposit clumps of salt on areas that you want to see weathered. After painting, you can then remove the salt to reveal fine details bits of corrosion. Once you get used to the technique you can get a sense of what does and doesn’t work for your particular style, and combine effects as needed. Sponge Chipping, Layers, and Slathered Oil Paint – Felime Equipped with plaguespitters these units really put a lot of pressure on the opponent due to their decent damage output combined with their absolutely top of the line durability. I believe that they should be absolute staples in the mid field to any (competitive) Death Guard army. While the crawler is tougher and cheaper I believe that a good player will be able to do more with the additional benefits of the bloat drone, mainly the fly keyword. However these units are not mutually exclusive and taking a healthy mix such as 2 drones and 1 crawler or even 3 drones and 2 crawlers works very well. As the Death Guard Unit of the Week Series (DGUotWS) has been a bit sporadic, Wolf Lord Loki has offered to post UotW topics regularly to start building a good resource for all our plague ridden chums. Basecoat and highlightsOnce the hairspray is dry, you’re free to start applying your base coats and highlights. Since this is a 30k-scheme Death Guard Plagueburst Crawler, I’ll be using Menoth White and Menoth White Highlight, which are amazing go-to colors for any sort of cream, bone, or warm white in your life.

Smaller model and smaller base. Can fly over enemies and still fit in small gaps, fits in ruins, fits easier in confined spaces next to daemon princes Mortarion etc. Of course, there are loads of great units available to both of these Legions in Apocalypse, from the largest of demi-gods to the smallest wrigging mites – Rubric Marines and Plagueburst Crawlers are but a taste of many ways you can wage war with the Death Guard and Thousand Sons. Top Command Assets extra wounds and higher toughness. T8 versus small arms fire makes a large difference as well as against overcharged plasma and melta. This is also an area where the Rattlejoint Ague (-1 to saves) comes in handy – the added save reduction from things like plague belchers and plaguespurt gauntlets can be incredibly nasty against targets who’d otherwise rely on cover or be able to shrug off half the wounds with a 4+ save. It’s also handy against 2+ saves in cover, as worsening their save puts them on a 3+ and unable to claim the benefit of cover against an AP0 weapon. You don’t need Mortarion on the table anymore… but you probably still want him. Mortarion is a powerful force multiplier in the Death Guard army and his ability to ignore modifiers is a must-have for overcoming some matchups. That said, you can get a lot more for the points he eats up even at his reduced cost, and as we’ll see in the lists section, it’s possible to play a successful list without him. You’re really going to wish he was around when you go up against movement modifiers or -1 damage, however.

GW definitely did not waste the opportunity of using the open spaces on this kit to put it in as much detail as possible.Shade/start the grimeWhat we have now is a very clean, very rusted tank chassis. There’s no mud or grime (yet). To start building some of that up on the armoured panels, I like to use a brown Ink to give the panels some depth. Over the white, this ends up a little orange which just helps with the rust effect as well. The Thousand Sons, meanwhile, will be taking advantage of their psychic mastery to destroy their enemies with blasts of sorcerous witchfire.
