About this deal

The Endurance is just an all-round balanced bike. It doesn't shine in any one particular area, but it'll never let you down. It lets you get on with your ride; you can push on where you want to, and take it easy when you want, without ever dropping the fun factor.

It's no slouch either. Yes, with all the electronic gubbins this AL e tips the scales at 13.35kg (29.43lb), but when that is likely to become an issue, the motor will be taking the strain. Whether due to the plump tyres, effective frame design or both, the Ribble delivers a great ride. I was immediately impressed with how smooth it felt, despite Wiltshire’s roads trying their best to assault me with new potholes and freshly broken tarmac. The bike is a Christmas present and so will not see any use for about 5 weeks as we are in November now. Taking everything into account, I actually think the Orro Venturi is competitive on price and offers decent value for money. For instance, I normally average around 155 to 165bpm for my road rides on a normal bike, and that didn't change on the e-bike.Finding a saddle that enables you to do this is often crucial. Many of the most common types of pain caused by cycling – and not forgetting saddle sores – are linked to ill-fitting saddles. Flatland pace is consistently good, even over tarmac that would see you bunny hopping and switching lines constantly on a bike shod with 25mm tyres. The Kappa Space is 360° riding option saddle with a semi-round shape and comfortable sitting characteristics Due to the anatomically cut out in the saddle shell and overfilled sitting area, this saddle is ideal also for road/offroad/gravel and e-bikes. It provides a 147mm wide seating area and relieving lightweight foam padding. At first glance the Prologo Kappa saddle has a subtle stylish design that looks expensive, it looks great on the bike and has a flat, wide seat with a shallow channel through the middle to assist in relieving pressure when riding.

Both are decent options when it comes to ride quality, with the Schwalbes taking the edge on grip and rolling resistance, in my opinion. Value While this includes options that are suitable for men and women, we also have a dedicated guide to the best women’s road bike saddles and women’s mountain bike saddles. The Ribble Endurance AL e Enthusiast offers all the fun, pleasurable handling and ride quality of the acoustic version, but with the addition of a power plant that delivers plenty of smooth assistance for those of us who want or need a bit of help on the hills. It's a decent spec for the money too. Ride I'm a big fan of Ribble's Endurance range, having ridden the titanium version and the aluminium option, which I described as a 'loveable bike'. The 72.5-degree head angle keeps the steering on the neutral side of busy, and the wheelbase length brings some stability while allowing for the fitment of mudguards, though at 991mm (medium size) it's still short enough to keep things interesting.

They offer a decent balance of grip and rolling resistance and are pretty durable, too. They are perfectly capable of dealing with the Venturi's performance, but the bike does deserve an upgrade once they wear out. Value With Prologo being the official sponsors of pro tour teams Orica-GreenEdge, Saxo-Tinkoff and Lampre-Merida – and also sponsors of MTB Team Cannondale Factory Racing –they are a tried and tested company, used by pros who are spending hours a day with their products. The Prologo Kappa Evo T2.0 Saddle is one of the pro’s key preferred perches. At a Glance We researched other brands and found that they were appalling quality straight out of the box and often more expensive too. The most important difference between road bike seats is shape. Long, curved shapes such as the Selle San Marco Concor were the hot item through the eighties and nineties, then we had long and flat like the Fizik Arione in the 2000s. More recently the trend has been for short-nose saddles, such as the Specialized Power.

Even then the Ribble still comes in a lot cheaper than the other bikes that were also on test (see below), but boasts a component specification equal to or better than its competition. An e-bike has many more uses than just making life easier, though. The assistance can benefit the injured, ill or those who've found their ability but not their enthusiasm curbed by the subtle onset of age. SPACE Technology Prologo have introduced a new line of saddles called SPACE. The R&D team at Prologo have developed a line of saddles dedicated to providing maximum comfort, ergonomics and performance. SPACE technology eliminates pressure spikes and numbness in the perineal area thanks to the anatomical channel and varied foam densities. A large anatomical channel drives along the saddle around the central axis. The padding plus 3mm of various densities of foam, in combination with central channel eliminates pressure peaks in pelvica – prostate for men and women in the genital area. T2.0 Rails Rails in chromium HRC39 and used in the aerospace industry. Solid throughout and excellent at withstand stresses saddle rails go through. When riding on the saddle it has a lovey ergonomic fit and is not restricting in any way, therefore reducing the risk of tenderness and chafing. It gives an immediate settling position and you are not left moving around to get comfortable. It has light padding on the seat that will give a good amount of comfort on a long ride. Quality The channel is presented with a wide anatomical channel that crosses the saddle along the whole central axis of the same; the foam density’ differentiated and increased (+ 3 mm), in combination with the greater width of the saddle, guarantee absolute comfort making these saddles suitable for unisex use. It's way more relaxed than a full-on race machine, but still feels nimble through the bends and when mixing it with traffic, should you be using it as a commuter.

The 50/34 x 11-32 gearing combination works well for all but the fastest rides and the carbon seatpost makes use of its exposed length and Prologo saddle to produce seated comfort that’s perfectly adequate. Apart from the odd moment of faint tyre rub, the mudguards — which have a useful flap on the bottom of the front ’guard — kept me, the riders around me and the CGR SL free of road spray. I've ridden a few road e-bikes now and I bloody love 'em. I'm not saying I want one just yet as my only machine, but they have certainly opened up some new options. Did a little test the other day, went up Canonbie Road in Forest Hill, 18% climb, first on roadbike and then on road ebike. On the former my heartrate maxxed at 168, on the latter at 152 (with assistance on full), so definitely getting a workout! These two gentlemen could not be any more accommodating if they tried, quality service that is a rare find in today’s crazy world, I can not recommend this company enough!

Giant Defy Advanced SL 0 2024

The KAPPA SPACE saddles are available with the T2.0 rail. It uses a Chromo-Molibdeno rail with a very high tensile strenght. It has 7mm rail clamp diameter. If you are looking for an e-bike that'll give you the feeling of riding a standard road bike with just the subtlest of assistance, then the Ribble is a very good choice. Above the speed limiter it rides just like the standard version everywhere but the shallowest of inclines. It's good value for money, too. Verdict Yes, it's the same Mahle X35 system as I have on my Orbea Gain D50. It's fully replaceable, though annoyingly the battery and controller come as a single sealed unit so when the battery is replaced one has to unecessarily buy a new controller which must up the price. However, the manufacturer states that the battery should be good for 500 cycles and in normal riding I get about 80-100km per charge so should get about 40,000 kms out of it before replacement needed if my maths is correct. Other than the annoyance mentioned, I can thoroughly recommend the system, the "just enough assistance" principle means you get plenty of exercise* but that little push as and when you need it. Taking all of that into account it’s pretty clear why Prologo Kappa Space Saddle (with T2.0 Rails) scored such a great price score of 9.1/10 and why it features as one of the top recommended products in the Saddles category.
