About this deal

Rose published “Inevitable” her debut novel in 2020 and has since then become quite the author with more than half a dozen works to her name across several series of novels. This was SUCH a unique book! I felt like a really cool sci-fi / urban fantasy crossover and it made for super fast paced story that held my attention from start to finish.

I got recommended this series because I wanted to read something slow to medium burn without OW drama, and while this definitely does not have that. I didn’t anticipate that this story would fall under the bully category, because that’s what this is. Regardless of whatever false pretenses the men are under, they are really AWFUL to the fmc. Some more than others, because we do have some softies like Andreas. Note: Our suggestions on which are easiest to complete will be marked by an asterisk* for when you do not have to complete all of them. The endgame when it finally arrived was bloody brutal and the aftermath of Rivas's actions means she’s once again terrified that her family will reject her for the monster she feels she now is.

As the group grow closer to their end-goal bonds will need to be reaffirmed and allegiances cemented. Riva will also be driven to the brink as she discovers that the boys she once loved with all of her heart don’t hold her in the same regard.

There were several points in the story where my heart ached, especially towards the end. I won’t go into detail to avoid spoilers, but I’m very curious to see how the dynamic evolves in the second book. There is some serious groveling to be done.

I was immediately hooked, it started with action and kept going with a fast pace that kept me entertained. I always like when the first book in a series is fast paced! Feel free to invite some friends to join our Round Table community!http://www.goodreads.com/group/invite_members/26989-goodreads-authors-readers This book is about six people. Riva (the FMC), Griffin and Jacob (the twins), Dominic, Zian, and Andreas. They all have varying abilities such as empathy, super strength, super speed, X-ray vision, healing, telekinesis, etc. They are all in a facility where they are guarded and trained for some reason that won't be revealed until the end of the book. And they attempt an escape that they have thoughtfully planned out, but things don't go their way. One of the men "dies" and I put this in quotations because I'm holding out hope that he is alive and he's in hiding somewhere (Not a spoiler, but I'm hoping for that outcome) because how cruel is it to introduce five men to the harem and a romantic moment happens between him and the FMC and they kill him off, so no I choose not to believe it. So, after this it jumps to four years later and they are all reunited, but it's not all happy and sunshine. The men are hostile and cruel to her because they blame her for the death of their friend because they believe she betrayed them. And if I'm being honest, do I wish they were crueler to her? Yes. Is that messed up? Yes. Does she deserve it? No. Absolutely not, but I feel it would've had more of an impact. So, this is similar to Corrupt by Penelope Douglas where the men blame the FMC for something she didn't do, and that's what happens here. Throughout all of their hostility and cruelty they put her through, she perseveres, she does not lash out on them. She's holding out hope that they will come to their senses and see the truth. Some of the guys have conflicting feelings of believing her and their old feelings coming to light, but they can't get over her "betrayal," so it's definitely a journey. A nice little Three star read. It wasn't great, but it was still pretty enjoyable. It also read fast, which I'll never complain about. This book feels like Suicide Squad, X-Men, and The Bonds That Tie series all combined into a why choose paranormal romance. NOTE: SHATTERED VOWS contains scenes of graphic violence that may not be suitable for more sensitive readers.

He smells just like he should, like sunshine and warm amber. I want to sink right into him." (Riva talking about Andreas) And as more conditions arise, it's clear there's a fine line between commitment and betrayal... and neither of us knows where that line falls. The world building continues to focus on the friendships and relationships of the former Special Forces soldiers: their struggle to move forward as the ghosts from the past continue to haunt their days and nights. At this point, you know how to get stronger, and what challenges lie in store for you. Can you overcome them? This book starts off promising with the fmc being badass and the rest of the book is her being pathetic.
