She actually thinks to herself in the book that there is no her without him, because she has no identity outside of her love for him. SEE A THERAPIST. He does! The drama is contrived. The sex scenes aren't as hot as they could be because Penny and James really don't have a connection outside of sex, and some kind of emotional connection would really help. Two books were more than enough, and that is evident because of the third and fourth. However, I would've thought four would be the absolute maximum as far as being able to squeeze any kind of plot out of this series. There are four more. FOUR. MORE. BOOKS.

Once again we are treated to the angsty "love" between James and Penny - although honestly aside from some mediocre sex (that is meant to be really hot, but never gets there) there is nothing between these two. It's quite easy to see why his ex-wife (and James himself) repeatedly says it isn't love they share but he's addicted to her/sex. Fans may choose to read Third Chances from the Men of Manhattan series prior to reading this book. Glimpses of James during his bachelor party weekend in Costa Rica are seen through Rob and Daphne’s POVs. So, Penny was highly annoying and James was bleh. Don't get me wrong, he had his moments, but I felt he was more developed as a secondary character in the Empire High books, than he was in his own series. By Addiction, we're still fairly in the dark about Isabella's craziness and James' past addiction. Had I not already had that prior knowledge, I wouldn't have been sold on any of it. It puts her in a negative headspace. She is lost and adrift as she begins the countdown to her June 30th wedding. Taboo scandal aside, there were so many red flags in their month long relationship. I hate it when an author forces an engagement/marriage just to speed up a plot line. It's okay to date, it's more believable. And you have like 5 more books coming along anyway.

Here we were having the honeymoon phase until some hidden secrets were starting to be revealed and turned everything upside down.Well all I can say is that I cannot believe I didn’t read it straight after I finished the made of steel series! But he never expected to be teaching such a beautiful student. He has to resist her. He needs to walk away. Penny deserves better than a man with his demons. But she's daring him to cross the line. And he's never been one to resist temptation. Vivid sex scenes with attention to the heroine's pleasure, but characterization remains problematic. Well, Penny was presented as a girl not too bold, with just one relationship. The kind and sweet girl that is staying at home and doesn't want to go out to party all the time... But in this story, she became a little bit wild. I started this series after I read the first 3 book of the Empire High series, but before Matchmaker. And I am severely disappointed.

Ma quando casualmente si era scontrata con quello che poi aveva scoperto essere il suo professore di comunicazione, si era trovata nella condizione di dover mettere in discussione alcuni dei princìpi nei quali aveva fermamente creduto fino a quel momento. Penny being drugged and having a gun to her head whilst James has been drugged and is trying to save them from Isabella! - cried my damn eyes out! I thought I wanted to marry him. I thought he was the man of my dreams. I thought we'd be happy as soon as we got away from all the rumors. But now? I don't think I ever really knew Professor Hunter. And I can't walk down the aisle until I know the truth. I was really in love with the emotions that this book brought out if me with the crying and laughing *about breaking up, marriage, gun shot. You know*. James Hunter gave up his billionaire lifestyle in NYC last year to become a professor. The easiest new rule to follow: don’t fraternize with the students. It’s easy to follow because he’s become quite the recluse in his new town – the only way he knows how to keep his secrets buried.This is the complete four-book The Hunted series, which is James and Penny’s story. Fans will find new material here in a brand new and exclusive bonus 16,000-word epilogue. I rate the overall series 4.5 stars. I actually really liked him. He was broody, and mysterious, but also kind of sweet. After everything, I still believe that he’s hiding something, and after the ending, I’m not sure whether he really has the right to act like that. We’ll see in the next book though whether I’m right or not. I still like him though and the moment between them both were on fire. I have always loved this series because of its dense and captivating plot filled with so much emotions. We left off with a cliffhanger at the end of this story, so I'll be jumping right into the next book. He really liked Penny and he was determined to have her even though that he was putting his carreer at stake.
