About this deal

Dapo Adeola, Tracy Darnton, Joseph Coelho and Chitra Soundar are among the 19 authors and illustrators longlisted for the Inclusive Books for Child... However, she finds herself at the centre of the investigation when it’s revealed that Hugh died in the exact same way as a character in a short story that she wrote. On top of this, Jess receives an anonymous tip, thanking her for the inspiration, and sending a threat her way. Jess, a student under strict instructions to keep her record clean or risk losing her scholarship, finds herself at the centre of the investigation when it's revealed that Hugh died in the exact same way as a character in a short story she wrote. Overall, ‘This Book Kills’ proved an entertaining mystery that kept me guessing as to whodunnit until the final reveal. While marketed as YA, I felt that Ravena Guron has written a novel that is bound to will appeal to lovers of mysteries of all ages.

Full Book Review: The One About A Boarding School Murder: This Book Kills by Ravena Guron | Book Review This Book Kills is a debut UKYA and bound to be one of the most gripping crime thrillers of 2023. I had the opportunity to ask the author, Ravena Guron, a few questions!

And then Jess receives an anonymous text thanking her for the inspiration… With her scholarship on the line Jess must now uncover the identity of the murderer before she becomes their next victim. Yes you can! I’m currently working on my second book – I can’t say too much about it, but there’s murder galore and I’ve had so much fun writing in all the twists… This Book Kills by Ravena Guron follows Jess, a scholarship student at an exclusive boarding school only for the elite. The thing is, Jess might have played a part in the murder of one of the boarding school's most popular students.

Friendship proves to be invaluable to her, saving her from a fate of death and deception. Yet all is not as it seems. Then Jess receives an anonymous text thanking her for the inspiration. As the police and a private detective hired by Hugh’s family seem to be going around in circles, Jess and her friends undertake their own investigation. No further details to avoid spoilers. Jess needs to solve this murder urgently, as time is running out. She may not only lose her scholarship, but she may end up also losing her life! I guess I can't be too hard on this book, bc it is a ya/childrens book. The way it was written, made it clear that it's for the younger ppl that read ya (12&13), which is alright in itself, but my expectations are a bit higher than that Not yet, but now that I’m published I’m so incredibly excited for This Book Kills to find its way to teenagers!
