About this deal

Dinoman, a TV series that stars a humanoid Triceratops and is being rebooted as a movie series. Suzume is a big fan of it. Artistic License – Paleontology: Mostly averted. The dinosaurs are generally extremely accurate as to scientific thought in the 2020s regarding their appearance and behaviour, right down to the feathers on the ones you'd expect to have them. However, there are some minor things here and there. Animal Lover: Suzume loves dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, with her main goal being to bridge the gap between them and humans. Career-Ending Injury: He was once one of Japan's most popular captive dinosaurs, but he accidentally broke one of his horns. Although the injury was ultimately superficial, his popularity plummeted, leading him to be sold off to Dinoland and replaced by another Triceratops with intact horns. Gentle Giant: When he's calm, it's easy to see that he's a huge softie, and enjoys laying in his favorite place and eating his favorite treats.

Nov 24 Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space Releases an Update Featuring a New Episode 'The Cliffs of Wyrmrest (Wryz Saga I)' on November 24 Mr. Exposition: Thoroughly enjoys educating guests about the park’s dinosaurs. His tendency for this is hinted to have gotten him fired from Blue World, and he’s so good at it that he actually gets a date with a guest after giving her a lecture about Pachycephalosaurus. In the world of Dinosaur Sanctuary , a small population of non-avian dinosaurs previously thought to have been extinct were found on an isolated island. This caused a great deal of initial excitement among the general public, but after the initial hype, public opinion has turned against dinosaurs due to a fatal incident at a dinosaur zoo. In short, at first there were a lot of ‘Ooh, ah,’ but then later there’s much running and screaming from the dinosaurs. The story follows Suma Suzume, a newly hired rookie zookeeper at Enoshima Dinoland, a struggling dinosaur park which has seen better days. And it is through her perspective and experiences that the reader learns about the different species of dinosaurs at Dinoland, and their husbandry needs. Enter Suma Suzume, the 24-year-old daughter of Dr. Suma Ichirou. She has just started working as a zookeeper at Enoshima Dinoland, 15 years after the terrible accident that occurred there. Determined, optimistic, and passionate, Suzume hopes to reinvigorate public interest in dinosaurs. But with Dinoland having been struggling for so long with insufficient staff and funding to take care of its 72 individual dinosaurs (plus pterosaurs and marine reptiles), Suzume will have a lot of work cut out for her. The human side of the story in Dinosaur Sanctuary is a workplace drama. Suzume is very idealistic about dinosaurs, and her bright-eyed enthusiasm means that she can almost serve as an audience self-insert for some readers. Sometimes her idealism clashes with the harsh realities of caring for a whole zoo full of unpredictable animals with demanding husbandry requirements. Though at the same time, her fresh perspective and enthusiasm can offer innovative ways of attracting visitors to Dinoland. While all the staff at Enoshima Dinoland care about the well-being of the dinosaurs there, their philosophies and priorities differ due to their respective personalities and life experiences. This, along with the constant financial demands of running a dinosaur zoo, is ultimately the source of interpersonal drama and conflicts throughout this series.as well as being able to play social minigames with your group members to increase the chance of survival of yourself and your group. What Dinosaurs will be available? The base map spans a Larger and more complex footprint with multiple biomes, such as Forests/Jungle, Grass-and Wastelands as well as Beachsides. Career-Ending Injury: Masaru the Triceratops was once one of Japan's most popular captive dinosaurs, but he accidentally broke one of his horns. Although the injury was ultimately superficial, his popularity plummeted, leading him to be sold off to Dinoland and replaced by another Triceratops with fully intact horns.

Temper-Ceratops: Chapter 10 has the zoo's two male Centrosaurus, the larger Daikichi and the smaller Shoukichi, getting into a fight to win over the female, Umeko. This was really good! (Even though I was surprised by how scientific it was even if in hindsight the blurb obviously says that. LOL!) Kinoshita launched the manga in Shinchosha's Comic @Bunch magazine in March 2021. Shinchosha published the manga's first compiled book volume in September 2021. The artstyle is absolutely gorgeous with a lot of detail for both the dinosaur and human characters, but enviroments also aren't forgotten. TLDR; young girl with passion for dinosaurs never grew up and became a dinosaur zookeeper in her twenties. And main villain seems to be capitalism, as it should be. Also, the dinosaurs here are shown to be animals. Some eat meat, yes, but they are more than monsters - they are shy, or bond with carers. They develop gout because of kidey failure or have special dietary needs. This makes the dinosaurs not less interesting, but more interesting, as they are as complex and fascinating as current life on earth. Headbutting Pachy: Zigzagged. Hachibei is fairly mellow towards his keepers, and Pachys in-universe generally use their hard heads to duel with more sideways blows than head-on collisions. That said, the interactive items in his exhibit include an old tire swing and a punching bag that he will happily headbutt and hammer at in his free time.

The series is also notable for its hard aversion of Artistic License – Paleontology. All the dinosaurs you expect to have feathers are as fluffy as they should be, and an actual paleontologist, Dr. Shin-ichi Fujiwara, was consulted by Kinoshita for information on depicting the dinosaurs with the correct behaviours and anatomy, and each chapter is accompanied with a detailed scientific explanation justifying how the dinosaurs are portrayed in the story. Likewise, the dinosaurs are also anything but Prehistoric Monsters, and their interactions with their handlers are not too different from what real-life zookeepers deal with when it comes to modern animals. Ridiculously Cute Critter: Benkei, the baby Troodon Suzume is temporarily charged with taking care of. Suzume can't help but be overwhelmed by how cute he is when she first sees him. However, it doesn't last, as Benkei proved quite the troublemaker.

The manga takes a realistic viewpoint of the parks. It does show a dinosaur eating a deer carcass, fair warning. You watch dinosaurs hatch from eggs and be treated for medical conditions and everything felt plausible. Stern Teacher: Has no patience at all with slow learners or those who make mistakes, though it’s made clear it’s out of a desire to see them do better. Extinct Animal Park: The eponymous Enoshima Dinoland is a small struggling zoo that hosts about two dozen species of dinosaur note technically nineteen non-avian dinosaurs, four pterosaur, and one plesiosaur, ranging from small herbivores to giant carnivores. The series focuses on the day-to-day business of running the place, which is not too different from what real-life zoos deal with when it comes to their animals.

Greenall, Jonathan (October 16, 2022). "Dinosaur Sanctuary: The Manga That Will Reawaken Your Childhood Love of Dinosaurs". Comic Book Resources . Retrieved July 15, 2023. Probably my first proper foray into manga, and I'm loving it! It's basically what I've wanted to read about for a long time. Don't get me wrong, I liked both the first Jurassic park book (second one I still have to read) and the first two movies. (The jurassic world ones can go take a hike though.) But I also just want a dinosaur story that show's them off how they would behave realistically and how cool they are without all the gore. One that didn't focus on the horror aspect and how it's always just about dino and humans killing eachother. Or the those 2000's dino doc's that just focused on fighting? I think I hated those as a kid. Show me more of the daily life of dinosaurs, how they socialize, raise young and stuff, not just hunting and fighting. If you're looking for something similar, then I think Dinosaur Sanctuary is a good fit! Our protagonist, Suma Suzume, and her fellow zookeepers find themselves dealing the struggles of keeping their failing dinosaur zoo in good shape and making a profit while also making sure the dinosaurs themselves are well-cared for. The struggles our characters face are very similar to what real-life zookeepers must face when working at zoos and theme parks such as SeaWorld. While these real-life topics can be rather grim, Dinosaur Sanctuary never becomes outright pessimistic, keeping up a fairly optimistic tone that makes this manga fun to read.In the first chapter, when Suzume arrives at the zoo, she comforts a group of schoolchildren scared by Enoshima Dinoland's Giganotosaurus by explaining how dinosaurs aren't all scary through pointing out that birds are also dinosaurs, establishing her primary characteristics - her passion for and knowledge in dinosaurs, her desire to help people understand and connect with dinosaurs better, and her general kind and helpful nature.
