About this deal

This way all your energy goes into the exercise, none is wasted on the set up. Mad Spotter Pro Hooks Rubber tips: The tips at the bottom of the hook can fall off at times, doesn’t affect the function though First off, this is not the first dumbbell cradle system I’ve seen or used. There are cheaper ones that attach individually to uprights like the Titan Dumbbell Holders and there are also much more expensive and complicated units built directly into the bench like the Atlantis Precision Series P-537 Flat Dumbbell Bench with Pivots(I have no idea who comes up with these mindlessly long names.) However, for the price, the VersaSpot Dumbbell System one of the most practical and best value dumbbell cradle systems we’ve reviewed.

We’ve loaded 150 LB dumbbells on the VersaSpot and it didn’t budge. It has a 250 LB dumbbell limit per saddle, however, I would personally trust it with much more (although I’ll never need it.) If you’ve ever tried traditional farmers carries with just dumbbells, you’ll notice a much greater challenge using these in addition. Simply hook them onto your dumbbells and start walking! Before I dive too deep into the product, allow me to elaborate on my previous statement by explaining why these Mad Spotter Hooks exist in the first place. Imagine that every time you bench-press with a barbell, rather than taking advantage of j-cups and starting at the top of the exercise, you have no choice but to begin pressing from the bottom of the movement. That would be complete INSANITY! After a lot of research, the ones I found are way expensive and take up more space than the Mad Spotters. Our hooks are developed for the user to hang their dumbbells or kettlebells directly from the floor in a second. The user simply needs to attach the hook to their lifting belt , while the hook is used to attach the dumbbell or kettlebell directly to it. My YouTube review of the 1st generation of Mad Spotter Hooks How is the Mad Spotter customer service? If you’re using dumbbells in the traditional manner, you start the first rep from the bottom if they’re heavy enough, and no way to spot the lift at the top or bottom of the lift. My first attempt at using the Mad Spotter Hooks didn't turn out well, in a sense that I was initially annoyed at how "short" the velcro wraps were. I believed they were short because I was trying to wrap the Hooks and the Dumbbells together as one, as I was used to this method with the "Bodymax" Hooks. And since I couldn't get the wraps to fully wrap around the Hook and the Dumbbell handle, I simply chose not to use the wraps. As a result, I pleasantly discovered that I didn't require the wraps after all!

Anyone who is familiar with using "Bodymax" Dumbbell Hooks will recognise the "altered" Mad Spotter design immediately. The Rebel Strength Dumbbell Holders are heavy duty and enable me to press dumbbells in a comfortable manner but unfortunately not in a safe manner, which is extremely important. Let me explain...

Whether you train at a commercial or home gym, if you train by yourself and wish to strictly focus on the "pressing" part of lifts without using up your energy to lift heavy weights from the floor, then my suggestion is to first try out Dumbbell Hooks as they are simple to use and relatively very cheap to buy ( depending on the brand of course). This solution will work great for people of all age groups.

The most interesting feature of this Dumbbell Hook is the end part where the Dumbbell gets placed on to. This is also the part of the Hook which the lifter grabs hold of ( just incase you didn't know). The saddles are curved and cradle the dumbbells extremely well. Although Pro-Style dumbbells would work best (think old-school Ivanko’s) we had no problem with loadable dumbbell handles, hex-head dumbbells, Intek’s, Eleiko’s, or any other style of dumbbell on the market. Thanks to them cradling the heads of the dumbbells, you can pretty much use any without issue.

It could be hard to find a better Christmas or birthday gift than these spotters, but you don’t need a holiday to treat yourself and a few friends. Yes, this is a common issue, we are thinking of making them a little longer. Btw are you wrapping them around the hook and dumbbell or only around the dumbbell handle?" ~ Mad Spotter

Don't take our word for it

Now if you look at the Bodymax Hooks, the metal base of the Hook clearly touches the metal bar - This also creates more noise ( metal on metal) when training, which can be slightly annoying. I love them but mostly only use them if doing muscle rounds (mostly because it usually involves setting up the chin bar so don't bother for straight sets).
