About this deal

We haven’t yet explored every single option, but it has everything a typical scan mesh editor would offer, like smoothing and hole filling. In feature mode, the software and scanner will position themselves based on your object’s shapes. This mode works best on objects with a lot of different geometries. But it won’t work well on:

The software– called EXStar– mostly worked great but lagged a little bit sometimes despite these monster specifications. It is really important that you have a powerful computer to run the software smoothly. Getting started Installation

The Exstar software has a couple of neat features that we haven’t seen before in Shining 3D’s budget scanner software. The most notable is the ‘Data Quality Indicator’ setting that you can enable while 3D scanning. Our Einstar was calibrated after unboxing and seemed to function properly, so we can only assume that this value is overstated. Needless to say, the Einscan H outshines the Einstar in practically every category—aside from the price. From scan detail to speed and ergonomics, the Einscan H is the better device.

For starters, you can use these in the health industry. One of the top uses for it in the health industry is for fake items that try to replicate real body parts. Two of the biggest times where this comes into play are for prosthetics and plastic surgery.

So, Accuracy and Resolution represent differently, and if you are unsure of the level of accuracy or resolution you need, our team of measurement experts are here (embedded link of [email protected]) to help. EXStar prompts you to hold the scanner at different distances and angles from the plate. If you are new to 3D scanner calibration processes, you might need to get the hang of some of the angles. Make sure you follow the same movement shown on the software interface. Similarly, if you expect to get high resolution scans of bodies, faces, statues, or other large objects, you should look elsewhere. The Einscan H is the next step up from the Einstar and offers better results in less time—though its price reflects that. The built-in detail enhancement technology optimizes the point cloud for complete data acquisition, better guides your scanning and improve the data quality. After I first learned about the 3D scanner and realized one of its important roles - converting real-life objects into 3D models - I had a question: How accurate is it? Like many people, once I learn about this technology, it is natural to start paying attention to what accuracy it can achieve because it certainly seems to be a simple and direct criterion to understand the quality of a scanner. Yet is this really the case? Here are all the facts about accuracy that you, as a person interested in 3D scanning, should know:

You might think that those specifications are overstated, but nothing could be further from the truth. We maxed out our more powerful testing system on multiple occasions. Test System The top indicator is used to show the distance from the scanner to the object. Blue means the distance is too far, green is good, and red is too close. To capture maximum detail, you want to keep the indicator green as much as possible. When deciding on buying the Shining 3D Einstar, it is best to place the device in the context of other 3D scanners. Since face 3D scanning is one of Einstar’s key use cases, we just had to try it out. We scanned a friend, Julien, in portrait mode and got an amazing result in 0.5mm resolution. We prefer the single-software solution of Shining 3D’s scanners, as it makes the user experience more consistent and less confusing.

What this setting does is that it displays the current scan in a color gradation from green to red. Green means that enough detail has been captured, whereas yellow and red indicate that you need to collect more data in those areas. We’ve only used the Einstar briefly in natural light and it performed relatively okay. But while the device is able to capture geometry and texture in outdoor conditions, there is a big catch. The process was really easy, too, and took under 10 minutes for both calibration types: one regarding geometrical precision and the other dedicated to colors. It is cheaper than ceramic and more durable than foam, but it does require more care when handling and storing it. If you store it in its pouch in the case, it is relatively well protected. This is Top 3D Shop, and today we are going to review the Shining 3D Einstar, the company’s most affordable handheld 3D scanner providing professional quality. The second is the small fan that is placed at the top of the Einstar 3D scanner. It’s a miniscule 20x20x6 mm fan that emits an annoying high-pitched whine. Here, you must indicate whether you’re scanning a person (for a 3D face scan) or an object. If you select “portrait” mode, you can move on to the next setting. To start, the Shining 3D Einstar is listed as collecting high density point cloud data with a point distance of up to 0.1 mm. This is significantly smaller than the 0.17 mm-0.2 mm listed for the Einscan SP that we recently reviewed, suggesting that the Einstar provides more detailed results. As the leading drafting party of the industry standard of "Chinese Structure light 3D measurement system", SHINING 3D has always been serious about accuracy. Unlike "single frame accuracy", we tend to test "accuracy of aligned data" in a professional measurement way. Because 3D models are usually stitched together from multiple scanned frames, in most cases the accuracy one is discussing is not the highest accuracy that can be obtained from a single scan.
