Hdfury Arcana allows ANY HDMI source FULL AUDIO to ANY eARC sound system for up to Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby MAT Atmos, DTS-X, DTS-HD Master Audio, and older formats. You get a slightly compressed version of the sound, but in practice, it’s hard to hear the difference as the change is subtle. Although HDMI eARC can technically be implemented on HDMI 2.0b ports, the reality is it’s only TVs with HDMI 2.1 ports that support eARC. Effectively, unless you’ve bought a TV in the last 18 months or so, it’s unlikely that you’ll have HDMI eARC, which means you can’t run the highest-quality audio into the Sonos Arc. On the receiving end, HDMI2.1 AVR equipment has technical challenges and a high cost to route 1500MHz/48Gbps signals. Some manufacturers might choose to offer eARC capable sound systems with only eARC inputs like SONOS did with the SONOS Arc soundbar. Many manufacturers are expected to provide eARC only capable solutions over the years to come as HDMI2.1 becomes more widely adopted. Its design utilizes a Smart and multi HDMI switch mode; when only one input is active, it will auto-switch to the active switch. In case of multiple active inputs, you can use the built-in button or Infrared Remote controller to manually select the input port at the comfort of your seat.
The NEWCARE 4K features the three primary EDID settings—Pass, 2.0CH, and 5.1CH. With those settings, the device can support a range of audio formats like Dolby Digital, DTS, PCM, etc. Moreso, you will find old and new versions of the AudioExtractors. These two versions tend to create a lot of confusion, especially if it’s your first time trying to find the right HDMI AudioExtractor to buy. The Newcare 4K HDMI audio extractor excels over its predecessor for advanced features like the eARC and ARC function. Unfortunately, whether or not a TV can encode Atmos to Dolby Digital Plus still depends on the device and what it’s capable of. For example, Sky Q has Dolby Atmos on some of its programmes and films, but when I fired up the integrated Netflix app, there was no Dolby Atmos content available; using the LG Netflix app, I could send Atmos to the Arc. What about DTS sound?Connect your source HDMI output to the Arcana HDMI input and Arcana HDMI output to any projector, monitor, or display. Connect the Arcana eARC out to SONOS Arc. If you need to transfer ARC for TV audio and have full audio from one external source then all you need is Arcana. Connect your source HDMI output to the Arcana HDMI input. Connect the HDMI output to your TV ARC input and connect the eARC output to SONOS Arc or your eARC/AVR sound system. AGPtek HDMI has three audio mode settings—Pass, 2 Channel, and 5.1 Channel. These settings determine the compatible audio format depending on the particular setting chosen.
The HDMI Arcana can also take your TV’s ARC output, so you can continue to use its built-in apps and run audio through your TV. I use my LG TV’s built-in Netflix app, and can get Dolby Atmos through the Sonos Arc (via Dolby Digital Plus).
