About this deal

As long as the thermostat base is from the same model, generation and country/region as the thermostat display, you can swap bases and displays. The Failed to connect message or error codes M21 and M22 all mean that your Nest can’t connect to your Wi-Fi network. The problem could be with your thermostat or with your Wi-Fi network, so we’ll try a few fixes for each.

Note: If you're using a Nest Thermostat E and have Auto-Schedule disabled, you'll have the option to reset to either a blank schedule as described above or Basic Schedule. A basic schedule is a pre-filled schedule based on a national average that balances energy savings and comfort.

Your thermostat will need time to learn about you and your home before it creates your schedule and activates its energy saving features. As long as the thermostat base is from the same model, generation, and country/region as the thermostat display, you can swap bases and displays. The display connector on the thermostat base is different for all 3 generations of the Nest Learning Thermostat. In addition, the connectors for the system wires are different between thermostat models. Tip: If you're moving and leaving your thermostat behind and want to use this option, you might also want to reset the temperature schedule as well. This will let the new owners control the system from day one while the thermostat learns a schedule for them.

If you have the Nest Learning Thermostat with a single transformer system, switch the power wire between the Rh and Rc terminals.

Go to Settings select Restart or Factory Reset . Your thermostat will ask you to confirm your choice. Once you've confirmed, your thermostat will take a few moments to restart or reset.

Fuses are color-coded to indicate their rating. Make sure you replace your fuse with one of the same color. You likely want to get an HVAC technician to aid you in this, particularly since a blown fuse could indicate a deeper problem with your system. 10. Nest Thermostat Won’t Connect to Wi-Fi Some countries use high-voltage wiring for thermostats while others (such as the US and Canada) use low-voltage wiring. Nest designed different thermostats for high- and low-voltage system wiring. High-voltage and low-voltage Nest thermostat parts are not compatible. WARNING: Any attempt to connect low and high voltage thermostat parts may damage them as well as your system. Do not mix and match these bases and displays, even if the thermostats are the same model and generation. When there is no power to your Nest’s Rh wire, it will show an E74 error code on the display, and your system will fail to turn on. The most common causes of this problem are: To reset the Nest Thermostat's account connection, go to Settings Account Disconnect. This account disconnection also removes the thermostat from the Home app, so you won't be able to access any control features or settings there. Nest Thermostat E or Nest Learning Thermostat If your Nest Learning Thermostat display has been replaced with a new one, it will need to be connected to the app. The displays and bases of various thermostat models are not interchangeable, even though they may look similar.

A thermostat restart can fix some common issues. Reset your thermostat to clear your personal settings.

Pair a replacement display or Heat Link

Some Nest features work without Wi-Fi, so don’t worry too much if your network doesn’t come on immediately. But the real power of a smart thermostat requires an internet connection. 11. Nest Thermostat Temperature Wrong
