About this deal

The beak is smooth with the nasal opening about halfway down its length. Grooves sculpted into the beak indicate where the antorbital fenestra is located and the eyes are present just behind that. The crest is detailed with vertical striations. A tongue is sculpted within the mouth with a groove down its center and nice texturing on the roof of the mouth. The Peking Natural Science-Art Organisation have a diverse range of detailed dinosaur toys and statues. Dinosaur toy playset – Let kids’ creativity soar with Quetzalcoatlus Plane Ambush (76947), featuring a buildable plane and a Quetzalcoatlus figure from Jurassic World: Dominion With the knowledge that Jurassic World: Dominion would star a Quetzalcoatlus came the hope that we would also get an action figure of the azhdarchid befitting its onscreen counterpart. Of course, Mattel had already released a Quetzalcoatlus a few years ago, one that I had reserved for review but alas, thanks to its rarity I was never able to acquire. It was a big, beautiful toy, with a stunning combination of orange, yellow, purple, and turquoise in its color repertoire. Honestly, it was the only pterosaur in the entire Mattel lineup that I really longed for. Now, with the release of the Dominion toy, I’m kind of glad I never found it. The LEGO® Jurassic World range has top gift ideas for kids and fans of all ages, with moulded, buildable dinosaur figures, minifigures and cool toy vehicles for play and display. Look out for Atrociraptor Dinosaur: Bike Chase (76945). It includes Owen’s motorcycle, which fits inside the plane in this set.

If there is one thing that you should notice from Quetzalcoatlus pictures, it’s the fact that this was one huge flying reptile. It was approximately 18 feet long, had a wingspan of 36 feet and probably weighed around 250 to 300 pounds. That means that it weighed more than an average human male and had a wingspan that was 3 times greater than a Great White Pelican. Fortunately, humans weren’t around at that time because if they had, then these animals were large enough to carry one off.

Gift idea for ages 7 and up – This set makes a fun birthday present, holiday gift toy or treat for kids who love dinosaurs and planes A short mohawk of pycnofibers is sculpted just behind the head and as stated previously, the entire figure is covered in pycnofibers. Only the fingers and toes have any scale detail. The finger bones that make up the elongated fourth digit are plainly visible but an unnecessary detail.

Dramatic dinosaur action play is inevitable with these figures with more control over their action with an increased range of motion. authentic sculpting and realistic colors and texture add to the realism. They make a ferocious display, too! Size: This realistic Quetzalcoatlus toy model is 7.25 inches long and has a wingspan of 8.75 inches. AR lets kids study the dinosaur in the lab with fun visual learning and explore different modes, like thermal and x-ray! Then, take it to the next level and bring dinosaurs into our world through AR -- make the dinosaur appear in any room. RUN! Overall this figurine appears to be a very fine representation of Quetzalcoatlus in many of the finer details; yet when it comes to the department of broader anatomical accuracy, the most integral and challenging aspect of this animal, the GR/Haolonggood figure actually falls short. Information about Quetzalcoatlus might seem confusing at first when studying the animal: there are in fact two distinct species within the genus, and full scientific descriptions to better distinguish them didn’t exist until very recently. The first species, Q. northropi, is the larger and more famous of the two; however it is only known from fragmentary remains, consisting mostly of a partial wing. The second species, Q. lawsoni, is much smaller* but known from nearly complete remains. The two species received a long-overdue, very thorough scientific description published in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology in November 2021. Most (or all) popular depictions of Quetzalcoatlus rely on the massive size of Q. northropi, but the actual appearance of the animal has to be extrapolated from materials for Q. lawsoni. With this in mind, a certain level of creative license is acceptable for GR Toy’s figure; but how carefully is it following what is known for sure of either species?Quality assurance – LEGO components meet stringent industry standards to ensure they are consistent, compatible and connect consistently A highly recommended online toy store featuring a wide variety of Papo, Schleich, Safari Ltd., CollectA, and other figures. With the Dominion Quetzalcoatlus, Mattel could have simply repainted their older toy, and until I had it in-hand I assumed that that’s just what they had done. But no, Mattel has given us an entirely new and better sculpt with this toy. This Quetzalcoatlus is part of Mattel’s Massive Action line, along with the previously reviewed Yangchuanosaurus. It is an enormous toy, with a beak-to-tail length of 10” and a 16” wingspan. Quetzalcoatlus is estimated to have had a 36’ (11 meter) wingspan so scaling down that width we get a scale of 1/27 for the Mattel toy. Safety first – LEGO components are tested in almost every way imaginable to make sure they satisfy strict global safety standards

Quetzalcoatlus is a relatively recent discovery. In the 1970s, Douglas Lawson and colleagues discovered several pterosaur skeletons, including a gigantic wing bone, in Big Bend National Park, Texas. In 1975 Lawson described the huge wing as a new species, Quetzalcoatlus northropi, a pterosaur he described as “the largest flying creature”. This pterosaur has since become one of the most famous of its kind and is housed in the Texas Memorial Museum at Austin. Quetzalcoatlus is a pterosaur which lived approximately 70 million to 65 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous Period. It was first discovered during the 1970s and was named by Douglas A. Lawson in 1975. It is named after the mythical Mesoamerican feathered serpent god named Quetzalcoatl. The set comes with step-by-step building instructions and includes Owen Grady, Claire Dearing and Kayla Watts minifigures, plus a buildable fire extinguisher and flashlight and wrench accessory elements to inspire imaginative storytelling. The LEGO Jurassic World range – Find sets to suit fans of all ages, whether they want to recreate epic scenes, roleplay original stories or just build and display the collectible models Having grown up familiar with the titanic pterosaur being featured in books and television programs, it’s sometimes surprising for me to remember that Quetzalcoatlus is a relatively recent discovery in the history of paleontology. Named after the serpentine feathered Aztec deity, Quetzalcoatlus was found and initially described in 1975; it has retained notoriety for being (probably) the largest flying animal known in all natural history. One might also argue the pterosaur has been notorious in the paleontological community for just how poorly understood it really was until very recent decades, when new and more thorough examinations of Quetzalcoatlus and its relatives, the azhdarchid pterosaurs, have begun unveiling clearer understanding about the appearance and lifestyle of these remarkable flying reptiles. Quetzalcoatlus has also become real-life proof that truth can indeed be stranger than fiction – azhdarchids would have been some of the most alien-looking creatures to patrol the lands and skies of the Cretaceous period. One of the most fascinating facts about Quetzalcoatlus is that it might not have been able to fly. Paleontologists have analyzed the fossils of this pterosaur and many of them believe that it had no choice but to launch itself off of the side of cliffs and glide. Some people don’t believe it could have even done that much. They speculate that Quetzalcoatlus may have remained on the ground and used its wings for support. However, if that’s true, then why did they keep their enormous wings?
