About this deal

Concrete is one of the most commonly used materials in the building trade and depending on how it’s being used there are a number of different admixtures or additives as they are also known that can be used to enhance, assist, colour etc. your cement mixtures as required. Pozzolan concrete (substitution of cement with pozzolans calls for lower w/c to compensate the reduction in strength) Water reducing admixtures, the name itself defining that they are used to minimize the water demand in a concrete mix. Workability is the important property of concrete which is improved with the addition of water but if water is added more than required the strength and durability properties of concrete gets affected. Plasticizers used in PVC and other plastics are often based on esters of polycarboxylic acids with linear or branched aliphatic alcohols of moderate chain length. These compounds are selected on the basis of many critieria including low toxicity, compatibility with the host material, nonvolatility, and expense. Phthalate esters of straight-chain and branched-chain alkyl alcohols meet these specifications and are common plasticizers. Ortho-phthalate esters have traditionally been the most dominant plasticizers, but regulatory concerns have led to the move away from classified substances to non-classified which includes high molecular weight ortho-phthalates and other plasticisers, especially in Europe. Better finish. They can also improve the finish of concrete. They can help produce a smoother surface, reduce the incidence of surface defects such as honeycombing, and enhance the color and texture of the concrete.

Introducing air into a concrete mix is done for several reasons; it makes the mix much easier to work with, once cured makes the concrete extremely durable with increased resistance to free-thaw effects and also to other environmental factors. Both plasticizers and superplasticizers can be added to concrete mixtures to reduce the water/cement ratio, thereby reducing water requirements in concrete production. But there are some differences between them. Superplasticizers disperses cement provides plastics with higher initial strength than free concrete with the same W/C ratio. Lignosulfonate plasticizers are made from sulfite pulp waste, which is a byproduct of the paper-making process. They are commonly used in concrete mixtures that require a longer setting time.Polycarboxylate superplastics, also known as high-grade water reducers, they are chemicals that are used where well-dispersed particle suspensions are required.

Superplasticizers (SPs) are also known as high- range water reducers that are additive used in making high strength concrete. Plasticizers are chemical compounds that enable the production of concrete with approximately 15% less water content. Superplasticizers allow a 30% or more reduction in water content. Plasticizers are commonly added to polymers such as plastics and rubber, either to facilitate the handling of the raw material during fabrication, or to meet the demands of the end product's application. For example, plasticizers are commonly added to polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which otherwise is hard and brittle, to make it soft and pliable; which makes it suitable for products such as shower curtains, vinyl flooring, clothing, bags, flexible plastic tubing, and electric wire insulation/coating. Decrease in Plasticizer Quantity: As the hydration products are formed, the plasticizer polymers entrap in these products. Thus, the availability of plasticizers will decrease. 3. Some other mechanisms of Concrete Plasticizers Long-term strength may also be improved owing to the more uniform distribution of cement particles throughout the concrete.Dimethyl phthalate (DMP), used in fragrances, as an insect repellent, and in several industrial processes as a solvent/carrier Over the last 60 years more than 30,000 different substances have been evaluated for their suitability as polymer plasticizers. Of these, only a small number – approximately 50 – are today in commercial use. [6]
