About this deal

The Amulet of destiny now gives its bearer a ward of 6+ instead of 5+. This is pretty huge though not unexpected since this generic artefact became the go-to for just about every single army. It’s still a good artefact to take with the number of mortal wounds flying around but is now going to be more of a choice and a toss-up when putting your army together. Battleplan: The Trap Artefact of Power: Chalice of Nectar –When casting or unbinding role, roll 3D6 and drop whichever die you want (Probably the lowest, but it doesn’t mandate that). Free Spirits are powerful warriors whose unquestioning obedience to Alarielle makes them important agents of the goddess in her fight to reclaim her lands in the Mortal Realms. They speak with the authority of the goddess. [4b]

Outcasts are terrifying, dangerous and vicious Sylvaneth spirits who can only hear the war aspect of the Spirit Song of Alarielle. [4c] A song of war is used by the leaders of the Sylvaneth to muster a wargrove for war. The air around them shivers and the land thrums as the song turns into compelling notes of violence while feelings of anger, images of battle and wordless calls for vengeance and fealty form in their minds. Clans will always answer the call of their Glades first, but they will also join the wars of other clans. Few Sylvaneth refuse to answer these calls as they are deeply loyal creatures. [9f] Army Ability: Our Roots Run Deep –Subtract 2 from the wounds counter when consulting the degrading statline on Treelords or Spirits of Durthu.

The alliance reconquered Erosia, the Glade Gathering of Thyria, and destroyed the towers of Invidia. [9e] Soul Wars while a Spirit of Durthu with Dread Harvester and the Greenwood Gladius will utterly obliterate foes on the charge! This one definitely feels out of place. This isn’t an army that’s been doing particularly poorly and a mob of 3 Mancrushers is a staple in many competitive lists since you get to throw more boulders at stuff with a unit of them. Kind of bizarre, but ok. With how limiting the composition of the army is in general this doesn’t really change anything either. You could already take 3 mobs with any Mega-Gargant and….still can. Recently, Kurnoth hunters have taken a bit of a staring role as more elite infantry and being able to reroll all hits with no limitations is pretty nice, especially when greatswords are combined with the command ability.

The words were accompanied by a fizzing hiss. Drycha saw that the humans of the sole remaining cannon had set alight to three of their X-marked powder barrels, and now hurled them down the slope towards the gargant, who stared dumbly at the burning objects as they smashed into his ankles. The Dawners hurled themselves flat, and Drycha cried out a warning to her Outcasts. Similar to Dread Harvester, this is a great combo with Harvestboon, who really want that early charge. B

It is impossible for most non-sylvaneth to comprehend, and those who try suffer from terrible pains. [9b] However, those with the keenest perception can feel on the edge of their senses the growing disquiet of the forests when the musters of the Sylvaneth are running through the Realmroots, feeling that something momentous is going to happen. [9f] Song of War

The decreases to the 4 mounted Heroes are nice to see if not a little surprising given that they just received mount traits, the Griffon one being especially good as well, from the Tome Celestial in White Dwarf. The Irondrakes are a solid staple of just about any Cities of Sigmar army putting out a punishing amount of firepower so this makes a lot of sense, making many existing lists go up 30 points f

Glades

Sylvaneth are an uphill battle to play but you can win. Matthew Kangiser went 5-0 at the Blue Sky Summer Open this past summer so it’s not impossible. Get out there and be a legend! Rules like this have come along later that are better, and 2 wounds may or may not be able to make the difference. When it does, it’s clutch though. Standing tall over the forest, Drycha Hamadreth, daughter of Alarielle, leads outcasts into battle with a hallowing cry. Her voice shakes the ground her roots grow from, and her hatred for all things that aren’t Sylvaneth rings true. You get a whopping 7 different Glades here, which is sort of surprising for how few units are in the book. At least you have a lot of variety, most lists on the competitive circuit tend to look at Winterleaf first, and Gnarlroot as a secondary option for those who prefer a more magical bent. Oakenbrow
