The District section will be on the left side of the badge, and the District and County sections are to be equal in width. The Membership Badge and the appropriate County, District and Group name tape may be worn on the shirt selected by the band. A manufactured example of all District and County badges should be submitted subsequently to UK Headquarters. Uniform can either be bought from our online shop - Scout Store - or from a local supplier. If you’re not sure where to start, or could use a little help with uniform costs, fear not. Your Explorer leader can chat to you about options. The most important thing when you first arrive is wearing something that you feel natural and comfortable in. Where to sew those badges... Once they’ve had time to settle in to the group, Explorers get their own set of uniform to wear during meetings and on trips away. Usually, this consists of a beige shirt or blouse with their badges sewn on, which they pair with their Unit scarf – if they’re an independent Unit - or Group scarf, if their Unit is merged with a Scout Troop. This will vary slightly if your Explorer Unit is part of the Air Scouts or Sea Scouts. See below for uniform diagrams. Cubs, Scouts and Explorers may also wear the current Joining In / Participation and Moving On Awards.

Explorers (3-7yrs)Explorers are the youngest age group in Girls’ Brigade. Like school, girls are grouped into sections according to their age on 1st July. Some companies run the Explorers section from age three to seven years old and some companies run their Explorers from age five to seven years old and have a separate Under 5s section for their three and four year olds. This is at the company’s discretion. Explorers meet once a week in early evenings or Saturday mornings.
