About this deal

For extra ambient depth and shimmer, the Acoustasonic 15’s instrument channel features a built-in chorus effect. The best acoustic guitar amp for you can also be a question of outputs. If you are looking for a recording amp, or if you want to send a signal via PA speakers, you’ll need a line out or XLR DI output. Many of these amps will offer a variety of solutions here, with ground lift to kill hum and some with the option of choosing channels for the outputs.

The SFX looks like a breed apart from other acoustic guitar amps. It has a retro-minimism with its maple-ply cabinet evoking Danish modernism. This will look good in the home beside your Kaare Klint chairs, or the coffee shop, club, wherever you intend to play it. Overall, this is a great acoustic combo. In my opinion, it has everything that you need from an amp of that size. It sounds great, it looks good, it’s very functional and it’s not overly expensive. Who needs anything else? With two channels (a 1/4″ instrument channel for acoustic or acoustic-electric guitar, ukulele, mandolin, etc., and another XLR input for a microphone), a three-channel equalizer, and an onboard chorus effect, the Acoustasonic 15 would seem the perfect acoustic guitar amp for the traveling musician. Onboard effects on smaller amplifiers often leave something to be desired; such is not the case with the Acoustasonic 15’s onboard chorus. Expecting to be underwhelmed, I gave the chorus a shot and was pleasantly surprised. Here’s where it gets interesting. The SFX knob on the control panel works in conjunction with the side-radiating speaker to dial in how much stereo spread you want from the amp. You can leave the SFX off and have your tone poking right at your audience, or dial in a bit or spread it wider with the SFX for a more ambient in-the-room sound. Using the SFX with the Vibratone brings forth some lush wobble and rotary speaker swirl. Although Fender Acoustasonic 15 is generally a really good amp, it’s not the best acoustic combo in the world. It has its own disadvantages, although in my opinion they’re not too serious. Having a 3 band EQ really helped out when switching between guitars. We tried the amp with a couple of models, including a Martin D-15M, which is a particularly dark, bass heavy model, and also with a Taylor GS Mini, which is an incredibly bright, peppy guitar. The downside here was that the EQ was only applied to the channel 2 guitar input, which meant we had no control over vocal EQ. This was only a minor complaint, however, as it should be understood that this isn’t a true PA system anyway.

Overall, since it’s a pretty affordable amp, there’s not much to complain about. It’s not super loud, but it’s a great combo for the money. I honestly think that it’d be really difficult to find something better at this price level. Fender Acoustasonic 15 vs Fender Acoustasonic 40 Controls: 1/4" Channel: Volume, Bass, Middle, Treble, Chorus. Microphone Channel: Volume, Bass, Middle, Treble. The manual to Fender Acoustasonic 15 can be found here. Where can I find more information about Fender amps? What’s important, the amp has the XLR Mic and the 1/4″ Instrument inputs, so it’s perfect for all solo artists who want to sing and play the guitar at the same time. As to which is the best practice amp for acoustic guitarists, I would have to give the nod to Acoustasonic. I’ve always been a Fender guy in the interest of full disclosure, but I believe that even in a blind comparison, I’d have chosen so.What do you think about that combo? Would you add it to your own gear collection? Leave a comment down below and let me know what you think, I’m really interested to hear your thoughts!
