Fenix torches are known for their impressive brightness levels, often ranging from a few hundred to several thousand lumens, providing excellent visibility in various conditions. The thin optical lens used in some of recent Fenix E-series flashlight models. Sitting behind this optics is the MATCH CA18-3X2 LED from Genesis Photonics (couldn't find much information about this LED except who manufacture it). Fenix products are popular among outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, campers, law enforcement personnel, and military professionals due to their rugged construction, powerful output, and advanced features. The company is known for using top-tier materials and cutting-edge technology to ensure their products meet high-performance standards. Please take out the battery if the flashlight will not be used for a long time, or it may cause damage from electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.

Below is an interactive runtime graph of several AA flashlights I tested. These are measured with AA Eneloop batteries. Even though some of the lights work with 14500 batteries, the numbers are solely for Eneloops. As you can see, they are the same as a NiMH battery, like the white Eneloop AA used above. Runtime: Low: 5 lumens. Not bad – a solid jump down from medium. Since we’re going low I wouldn’t mind this being just one or two lumens, but it works. Still, it wouldn’t hurt anything to have this light turn on in High, and it wouldn’t have cost Fenix anything extra. I don’t understand that decision.

Fenixlight Limited was formed in 2001 by a group of enthusiastic young engineers intent on improving upon the lighting products then available. When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Low output is reached. To ensure normal use, the flashlight will not turn off automatically and will work till the battery runs out completely.

Today, I am going to review the Fenix E12 flashlight. This Fenix brand flashlight is the successor of the Fenix E11 flashlight. The E12 light is an excellent EDC flashlight with powerful illumination. It is durably made, and an additional light mode is added. The tail cap switch is designed in a way that it can protect the tail cap switch. If you intend to use the flashlight in a camp or something similar, you can make it stand on the tail cap and act like a candle. No problems here. Though I didn’t carry this light much I doubt durability would be an issue. Construction feels really solid, and it feels very nice in the hand. In fact it feels so good that I wish the clip was better so I could carry it more. Note: We recommend unscrewing the tail cap by a half turn or removing the batteries to prevent accidental activation or battery leakage when not in use. Medium: 30 lumens. That is a very nice “in-between” setting, and about where I’d want a medium to be on this light. High-power light should use battery with high current discharge capability; We suggest using high-performance Ni-MH rechargeable battery to increase the runtime of this high-intensity light.

I love that it starts on low with no mode memory. And again, no blinkies. Good spacing with the four modes. The super popular Fenix E12 has been updated to the E12 V2.0, now offering 160 lumens output from a Match CA18 cool white LED, that is all contained in a smaller, lighter weight body, while still utilising just one AA alkaline or NiMH battery. Rutime is different from specs due to the fact that the batteries that i used in review are not new and their capacity decreased.

I’m not a huge fan of twisty interfaces, so I would almost always carry the E12 for the little bit of extra weight. If you still think that the flashlight is something you should carry when you wish to, think twice! A flashlight is a tool that you may need at any time, depending on the situation that you are in. So, ensure that you have an EDC light if you are afraid of carrying heavy lights.
